I want to surprise the kids with a decorated oom and a special treat (food or otherwise) in the room when we finally get to WDW. We are staying at POR, can anyone tell me if there is a service a can contact or could the hotel handle this for me. Or, if it's just not available.
Thanks!

Until you are checked in the room can be assigned to someone else. If you really want to do this I suggest waiting until after you are checked in.

Makes sense, so after I check in - Is there someone who can do this? Say, while we are the park. maybe when we came back to the room there could be a surprise set up for them?

You could ship some things to the resort yourself. Then excuse yourself when you are on your way to a park and arrange the items.

Gifts of a Lifetime offers baskets, etc. There is a DIS'er who makes baskets and has Disney items. Her name is Feralpeg.

Room decorating was an option that I saw on the Gifts of a Lifetime website. If want to just follow this link, it will take you right there, special occassions. The Disney cruise line offers a cute package with some decorations and a cake, but I haven't heard of it through the resorts yet. They do have event planners, but it's usually geared towards private functions, meetings and conventions. If all else fails, call the resort directly and speak to the lobby concierge. They may have some options for you.

we've been very pleased w/baskets made up by www.disneyflorist.com and click on "unique designs" for some good choices... if you call them they can customize something...

another idea is what i did for my children last year... every morning when they woke up there was a little gift (each was wrapped in a colored lunch bag w/stickers and a label) from a different disney character, giving a little glimpse into the day... i.e. day we were having dinner at crystal palace, there were water yo-yos from tigger... breakfast w/the princesses? a princess camera (bought at target) w/a note from the princesses... water park? underwater camera from nemo... mgm day, glow necklaces for fantasmic... our very first day we all received disney tee shirts which we happily wore! the only downside was that i had to stay awake later than the children! LOL! they were really wow'd at the disney magic... and it really helped us get a move on in the morning and go to sleep at night! :wizard:

The Disney Florist did a wonderful job on the items that we asked for. My kids were very happy with the treats that they had when we arrived. They decorated the baskets wonderfully. I also ordered a special basket for my husband since we where there during our Anniversary. They really work with you on the baskets and gift items as well.

They also arranged for flowers to be sent to my mother in PA. When we arrived I had a message that my Mother was rushed to the hospital In PA. After talking to her she asked that I not ruin my kids vacation by leaving and that she was going to be fine. I was torn about it and the Lady that I spoke with at Disney Florist was wonderful! She was so sweet and understanding. I felt like I was talking to a close friend she was so comforting. I must have been on the phone with her for 1/2 an hour. She really did make me feel better. The flowers arrived to my mothers hospital room with in 4 hours.

Thank you all so much for your ideas.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the presents the chararcters idea. I may go that way.

However, I really love the idea of having something delivered for them. I am going to call the Disney Florist & see if they can make up a basket for 3 spoiled girls.

I was also thinking of having a cookie basket delivered from cookiesbydesign dot com.

My husband will kill me by trips end. LOL

i have to share, my kids liked the daily surprises more than the gift basket... other suggestions of items for daily surprises were: autograph books/pens... pressed penny book and lotsa quarters and pennies... music cds on the last day for something new to listen to on the plane ride home :)

for items that can only be purchased at wdw, i brought extra gift bags w/the labels on them and did a quick shop and plant (in the room) while dh/kids were at the pool or food court!

These are really cute ideas. I'm going to contact Disneyflorist to suprise my 3 cuties on our upcoming trip. Thanks!!! ;)
