Surprise for a newbie

I'm going to DLP for my umpteenth time in June for my birthday with my best friend who is a total Disney newbie - I can't believe she has never yet set foot in a Disney Park!

Anyway, she's really looking forward to it (though she's scared of ALL the rides lol) but doesn't really have a clue what to expect.

It's my birthday trip but it's really special to me that I get to take her on her first Disney experience (I'm hoping to convert her!) so I want to surprise her at the gate with a little present. I'm looking for inspiration!

I already have a 1st time badge for her (from WDW but it's the thought that counts!) and I think I'm going to buy her a Disney T Shirt too as she doesn't own anything like that. I do also have a lai from Ohana at WDW but don't know if I'm going to give her that. I have a WDW birthday badge for me and was planning to go to City hall for a DLP one too.

Is there anything else small (that won't break the bank) that I could give her when we get to the gates to make her first moments in a Disney park extra special? Any ideas?

I forgot - I have also arranged a pixie dust postcard to be sent to her from a kind person on the dibb. It will come from Mickey and she should get it a couple of weeks before we go. I think she will be really confused how Mickey knew she was coming!

Honestly, I don't think that you need to do anything else. When your friend walks under the Disneyland Hotel, sees the 20th Anniversary sign at the station and steps into Town Square she will be blown away. The magic is right there :wizard:

You are right - we'll be arriving in the evening (around 6pm) as well so her first park moments will be when everything is all lit up as well which I'm hoping will blow her away (and then full park day next day for my birthday).

I just wanted to have something to give her as a surprise. Maybe the badge is enough?

I think the badge is enough too.

Although if you want to do more, do you think your friend would want to have her photo taken with the characters? You could surprise her with one of those autograph books where they have space for a photo next to the autograph. You can buy them on the Disney Store website now.

How about a nice set of minnie ears? :goodvibes

Ah I would love to do cupcakes but sadly I don't think they would survive the plane journey and a day in Paris before our Disney time.

I like the idea of ears - any idea where I could get some decent ones fairly cheaply before we go?

They are £8.00 but Disney Store are doing Jubilee edition Minnie ears at the moment which are truly fabulous. They are ears with a little regal crown on (I have seen ears with crowns on before but this crown is like the Crown Jewels crown - sorry only way to explain!). You can't get online but can buy at DS at the Metrocentre!

Failing that, someone is selling a pair BNWT on ebay at the moment - the red spotted tradition type which do have a special place in my heart!

I was also going to say an autograph book but Elaine beat me to it. They are £9 online (online order only) but with postage it bumps it up a fair bit (cheaper to buy in the park when you add in postage).

Or, what about a guide book - the Brit Guide one is good. You could get one cheap off ebay - try and get the latest edition though as there have been a fair few!
