So I proposed to the DH that we surprise our DD with a 5th birthday trip to DW in May. He was not opposed, but wasn't so sure it would be a good idea to take our 6 mo DS for such a short/busy trip. We would likely stay on property (unless I could find a better deal with a hotel, tickets, and rental car) and only spend two days at MK. I'd love to surprise her with a princess meal but I'm not a huge CRT fan. Any suggestions? Anyone ever take a short trip? We went when she was 3 and really stayed too long for her. By the end of the week we had a lot of exhausted meltdowns...

How long would you be planning to go (and how long is the travel time, it looks like you'd be going for a long weekend*)? We took our ODD when she was 4.5, and the baby was 3 months and then 5 months, it was actually surprisingly easy with a baby that young; we just popped her in the carrier and rented a double stroller (city mini) and it really didn't cramp our style at all.

*edited to add - we have taken the baby on long weekend trips and so long as we're in the same time zone and the travel isn't taking too long, it has been fine. We just returned from a 4-day trip to VA from NYC and it was fine.

We took our three daughters (4y, 2y, 6mo) this past September. Our 6mo dd was so easy and absolutely loved meeting the characters. The pictures will definitely be treasured forever!

If you don't care for CRT, how about BB Boutique? Not a meal but still a princess type activity.

We took our #3 when he was 4 months old and our #4 when he was 7 months old. As babies they were easy. They slept, nursed, and hung out in the carrier the whole time. Your 5 year old will have so much fun...short trip or not. Maybe try BOG for dinner. Belle and Beast make an appearance. Anyway...have fun planning. :)

I think your 6 mo. old will be fine. Babies are easier than toddlers at WDW for sure. They generally just hang out. If you don't want to do CRT, how about 1900 Park Fare at the Grand. Not as many princesses as CRT, but Cinderella, her prince, and her step sisters are there. It is usually an entertaining meal.

We mostly do short trips now (doing a two night in a few weeks) and choose "must-do's" for those trips. It actually takes the stress way down when you only have two or three things you absolutely want to do.

I agree with the 1900 Park Fare dinner suggestion if you don't like CRT. The food is good, she will see Cinderella and it's much less expensive than CRT. At dinner, BOG only has the Beast, so she wouldn't see any princesses there.

I agree with PPs that with a baby would be pretty easy. At 6 mos, they'll prob have 2-3 naps (carrier or stroller?) plus they are free so it's not an added expense. You just have to plan meals (they have a baby area in MK so if you're nursing or just want a quiet place to feed him that's a nice place). The main issues would be rides, though I would think he'd be okay to go on most of them that don't have a height requirement.

I would definitely go for it! If you don't like CRT what about 1900 Park Fare? The food is better than CRT and less expensive I think.

We would fly down on a Saturday and come home on like a Tuesday. He wouldn't cost us anything and I don't really want to leave him. Are infants allowed on some rides? I think he would be fine going.

I was just reviewing the CRT breakfast menu and though expensive it wouldn't be so bad. I like the Park Fare dinner suggestion too. We may have to go the weekend after her birthday because her prek graduation is close to her birthday.

Oh I'm hopping on here, because I'd love suggestions too. I am currently pregnant and planning to go next JAnuary for my oldest daughter's bday (she'll be 21!! yikes) ... but by then the little one will be about 8 months so I was wondeirng the best advice on traveling (plane/car seat) and rides.

For your daughter's princess meal I like the 1900 Park Faire suggestion. Their food is better imo than CRT, and you will get to see a few princesses at the meal. If you are into breakfast, we liked Akershus but that is in Epcot so would require hoppers or if you are going to that park :)
