Surfing?

I know this is probably not a question that's asked very often on the boards but, can you surf at any of the islands/destinations? I thought I read somewhere that you can surf on Cozumel, but I'm not sure. The reason I'm asking is because my BIL is a hardcore surfer and that's something he'd like to do on our trip. Our family is leaning towards a 7 day Western itinerary.

After being on both eastern/western, the only place I remember seeing serious wave action was on the far side of the island of Cozumel. Don't remember if there's any excursions for that or not.

My teen was inquiring about surfing also. Did anybody ever hear of surfing on the Western tour?
