Has anyone done the surfing at TL? If so, could you give me some info on it. How old do you have to be? Can your family watch? What time do you arrive? What is the cost? Is it worth it? Is everything supplied? Any thing else I didn't think of would be appreciated.

My friend's sons age 11 & 8 did this when we went last month. They had a great time and want to do it again when we go back next year. We were able to watch and got lots of pictures and video. The boys did great and caught on really quick. They were very tired afterwards from carrying the board. They would get in the water and get to ride 2 waves then had to get out and carry the board back. I think they did it 5 times for a total of 10 waves.

My DS would love this, but I see you have to stay onsite. We will be staying offsite, so I guess he will not get to participate. Thanks for the info.

I don't think you have to stay on site. I was talking to one of the moms watching and she said they were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. I think you just need to call 90 days prior and make a reservation.

Thanks We are only a couple weeks away, so we may get left out anyway. I will call tonight and see if they have any ressies left.

Myself, my DS(9), my brother and his fiancee did the surfing lessons last week. Aside from having to be up so early (they ask you be there at 5:45am), it was awesome. IMO, it was worth every cent and we will do it again in the future. The instructors were great and we enjoyed every minute. All told, we got 6 sets of waves. Just try to get a good nights rest before, as you will get quite a workout. They did allow other members of our group to come in and watch and take pictures. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

DS and I have done this. He was only 8 at the time. I am...a little older than that. It was a lot of fun, but sooo tiring. First you have lessons on dry land where you learn to do the "froggy hop" onto the board. Then you hit the water. When you hear a big booming noise that is your wave coming. Start paddling like crazy and don't look back. We still have our "graduation certificates". Dh took pictures and videos.
