Surf lessons in the rain?

So, would it be a fair assumption that surf lessons at TL would be cancelled if it rains? I just checked the 10-day forecast and it looks like DH won't be learning how to surf next Friday. :sad2: Does anyone know if there's a contingency plan for this, or is it simply cancelled?

Can't imagine why it would be cancelled. They get wet either way. I'd assume they would unless there were lightning, but of course, these are just assumptions.

I was hoping someone would pipe up with some words of encouragement! That was my sentiments exactly ("they get wet either way"). My parents are giving him surf lessons for his birthday (the 31st) and I'd hate to have to figure out something else for them to give him that would be just as spectacular. Besides, he's been wanting to learn to surf for his whole life. Living in Kansas and Texas doesn't give you much opportunity!

Are you talking about Friday the 29th? Because no forecast can be specific that far out. Ten-day forecasts are computer-genreated and notoriously inaccurate!

Sorry...didn't mean to be a wise guy. You could always call the number but I suspect there is a disclaimer, they reserve the right to cancel. When we booked our Illuminations Cruise, they told me that it could be cancelled due to inclement weather, but the cm told me they hardly ever do. I agree with the poster who said the 10 day forecast isn't too reliable, especially in Central Florida.

Hmmm... Surf lessons, huh? That sounds pretty cool, I really wanna learn how to surf & this sounds like a pretty cool oppurtunity. Does anyone have any more info on this?

I doubt they would cancel due to rain... only for lightning storms. Oh and as Bob P said above, never rely on 10-day forecasts. One of my buddies works at the weather channel as a programmer and he was told by the people there that they can really only accurately predict weather to a maximum of like 3 days out or something to that effect.. so you can always cross your fingers and hope for sun :thumbsup2

If by chance you get the Discovery HD channel, there's a show tomorrow, Undiscovered Walt Disney World, which has a segment on surfing on it - it's pretty cool. It does show on regular channels sometime because I have it on DVR (I think Travel or Discovery). It's on from 2-3pm EST. We're tempted to try the surfing now just after watching that!
