Surf and Sand Resort or Montage Laguna

We are a family of 5 looking to stay on the beach. Kids are 4, 9, 10. We will be using travel rewards for our stay. We can't decide between the 2 resorts mentioned. Anyone stay at either? Surf and Sand looks great and right on the beach but has no AC and that concerns me as we're going at end of August. Montage will eat up more of our points but has AC , but is it really family friendly??

Montage is a beautiful resort. I have stayed there before. It is very upscale California. The rooms are large and luxurious, but there is a sort of casual aspect due to its location. I would pick that in a heartbeat.
