There was a AKV horror story several months ago about a member who was told that they did not have a reservation when they attempted to check in at Jambo. This could have been a potential VGC horror story over Memorial Weekend. I could just imagine my sil at the front desk being told we didn't have a villa. BUT all is well, it a good thing I checked.

I was spending today at DCA with my DDs and DGD, having lunch at Storytellers and decided to see if I could reserve a cabana during our Memorial Day stay. The Guest Services CM could not find our reservation! :scared1: He could see the July reservation but no reservation for Memorial Day weekend.

Went back to lunch and surfed my iphone finding my reservation on the DVC site, and walked back to Guest Services. My reservation number was still not in the system. The Guest Services CM was more than wonderful. We were both calm but both concerned. He tried several different ways of retrieving the reservation. Finally he said, "Let's call Member Services." When he called, the MS CM kept telling us that the reservation was in their computer. The GS CM finally said he had tried 3 different ways and could not pull up my reservation. The MS CM put us on hold and finally came back to tell us that the reservation had been put through again. The GS CM (gosh, I love his follow through) told me to wait until he made sure that it was received and given to the DVC specialist at the front desk. He personally saw the DVC specialist pull our room into the reservation system. He also said that I had to call back tomorrow to make my cabana reservation, since the room reservation just came in.

I have always had the confirmation when I check in and will continue to carry a hard copy. I don't know how it could have been resolved if we had been standing there Friday May 27 with a reservation in hand but no reservation in the computer. It's fixed thanks to a wonderful VGC CM who told me he would follow this through.

Wow, that was scary! A reservation that can't be found. :scared1: I am so glad that it all worked out for you. I too always carry a copy of my confirmation no matter what hotel I am stayingt at. However I have also started e-mailing them to my phone as well, just as a back up. It is a good thing to do for all reservations, as you never know what may happen with computers!

Enjoy your Memorial Day get away!!:thumbsup2

I do the same thing from my flights, DVC reservation confirmation to my ADR's and other special things I may have booked. I carry hard copies in a folder, electronically on my phone AND email...never can be too careful! BUT all of that wouldnt have done you much good had they not had it and you were trying to get something comparable on a sold out weekend! :scared1:

SO happy you checked!! :worship:

Wow that would be scary. I would be so unhappy if I get to the front desk and they said there wasn't a resy for me. I usually carry a hard copy with me but I will for sure.

I'm glad you checked! That would have been scary to arrive with no reservation. Enjoy your countdown! :thumbsup2

I probably shouldn't be wondering about it BUT would it been resolved before our check in? MS couldn't book another DVC member, BUT at 30 days would the hotel look and see that they had an empty 2 bdrm available and could CRO book it?

I can't even imagine me standing there with my brother and sil. My sil doesn't even know the word calm. Considering how many reservations MS makes for DVC members, it's probably a miracle that the button to send to the resort isn't missed more often. And I don't really think there is anything comparable to a VGC dedicated 2 bdrm villa at the Disneyland resort unless the Grand Villa was available;)
