What if I were considering an onsite resort? As a FL resident, I have a pool and will certainly not be using one on vacation (MAYBE BB, but even then not likely).

Is there any particular reason why I should pay extra for a mod resort instead of value?

(Considering onsite as all days will be spent in WDW parks, seems most convenient)No?

It's all in what you want from a resort. If all you want is a place to sleep and you will be in the parks most of the time then the value would be fine. How many people would be in your party? That makes a difference also.
I do hear people say that the Value resorts can be loud and there can be large groups of kids. I have never stayed there so I can not comment on that.
I will say that I friends and family who have stayed at the Value resorts and have liked then just fine. I have not heard any complaints from them.
There is alot of info on the net about all the resorts so look at all of them and you will find what is best for you and/or your group.:)

We have stayed at the value resort All star Sports and though we prefer the moderates over the values-CSR is our favorite, I can't really say anything bad about the value resorts. If you are a small party in the room, and will be spending most of your time in the parks, I think a value is a perfect way to save money and still get the disney magic. We liked that we were still on Disney property without spending an arm and a leg. The food courts are usually average-we didn't care for the all star sports food court when we went and there is no sit down restaurant. The all stars appeal more to kids and families b/c of the larger than life theming so you are bound to have more kids there. We never had a problem with noise during our trip which was in the summertime. I can say we enjoy the moderates more b/c they have such great themes carried out through the whole resort which is usually more spread out.
Pick whatever is best for your group-I would stay at the values again if I needed to.

I personally prefer more space. Even if I'm only in the room briefly to sleep - I need space. I felt very comfortable in the moderates, but I would seriously start questioning my sanity in the All Stars! :)

I'm going to try them though. I'd like to try all of Disney's resorts.

As a FL resident, perhaps you'd enjoy a moderate that was themed like a different locale.....like POFQ or Coronado Springs...might feel even more like you've 'gone away' for vacation. It's probably one of the reasons I'll probably not ever stay at Coronado Springs.....too much like home!;)

We'll see what happens... At this point we may be 3 OR 4 ppl. with granny (would be 4) we would definetely need 3 beds. That would without a doubt be out of my range onsite. (Or 2 value rooms...) Well, its a good thing I have several months to decide. I think even if I had to make a late change of ressie, most places would let me cancell within a months notice ::yes::
