Support group for those with unvaccinated kids??

Wanna form one? I’d be in! We leave a week from today, we’re all vaccinated (me, DH, and a 17 and 13 year old) but our 9 year old. Still cautiously going ahead with it. I know many have said they’d never take an unvaccinated child, but we all need to make choices and I hope this thread can remain respectful because I can see it being really helpful.
When do you go? Where are you staying? What are you most looking forward to?

We arrive on Weds. Were driving from NJ. Poly and BC. No indoor dining, not going balls to the wall. We're Disney pros so there is very little we NEED to do... kids haven't done the new Star Wars or Toy Story stuff in DHS and we have Boo Bask tix so looking froward to that! And staying at Poly, which we have always wanted to do! Just nervous for the kids.

We’re also at Poly! Same with us, we’ve been there many times so we’re fine with it being a more relaxed trip. We do have a few indoor dining reservations but will leave masks on until it’s time to eat. We plan to kind of try to surround her in a little family “bubble” while in lines. Have a great time! Hopefully crowds have started to die down.

I mean if you’re truly that nervous for the kids why take them to a crowded theme park? To give you some reassurance I took my son who’s not even one years old about three or four times pre-vaccine and he is doing spectacular!

IMHO this seems a bit dramatic..
I took it be tongue in cheek, not dramatic. I laughed at the #wedontlicktherailing or whatever it was. When we were there several weeks ago I could not believe the number of kids that were licking surfaces. We had lunch near a lovely couple that had two children under the age of two. They told us one of their kids like to lick everything, including salt shakers or whatever that’s on the table.😬.

I’d like to think it was tongue-in-cheek but the crazies are out full force lately

Just here to say I’m in the same boat. We’re doing some indoor dining but not much. Feeling good about the mask policy and I’m hopeful that the crowds will be as low as possible in the next few weeks due to school starting, covid nervousness, and all the fun stuff starting in October for the 50th anniversary may make some people wait until then to go. Planning to mask up or just walk to something else anytime we feel things are too crowded. Good Luck to all trying to navigate this whole situation with young kids!

Wishing you a Safe Travel Experience. Perhaps Just be Xtra Vigilant… our local fla hospitals are literally closed to all elective surgeries again, our children’s hospital has 30 children in ICU alone … wishing you a healthy safe trip filled with Lots of Happy Memories.

I don't have a trip planned, but I did take my unvaxxed kids 7&10 in March. Honestly, I think they have a greater risk from me due to my job, than from school or disney. I am vaxxed, but so are 75% of my coworkers and they are dropping like flies, despite wearing n95s all day at work

DW and I are on the fence about this now, though thankfully our planned trip isn't until March and, fingers crossed, we hope that 2 year olds can be vaccinated by then.

However, as much as we want to go, if the mask requirement is in place we will probably cancel/reschedule. We are in no way anti-mask, and have no issues when wearing them out to the store, work, etc. Our issue is two-fold. We have been working with DD on masks but she is a petite 2 year old so even kids masks are pretty big on her. She will tolerate them for a while but, as is common with a toddler, eventually she is done with it and that's that. The second issue is comfort. We already live in the Houston area and deal with heat and humidity plenty, and we just have no desire to go walk 8+ miles a day in warm and humid Florida (March is a roll of the dice with temps, but we've been during some warm ones). The mild but undeniable discomfort of that along with the inevitable battles to get DD to keep a mask on have us of the mind that it just wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable a trip and for what it costs to go, we would just rather wait.

Either way, good luck, stay safe, and have a great trip!

I think a big part of deciding to go right now or not with unvacinated kids is knowing your kids. My kids are 7 and 10 and they are very good with wearing masks and making good choices, so I feel that we can lessen the risk to them. If my kids were not conditioned to wearing mask all day in school I would not bring them. I feel good choices period are more important then the location. You can be safter at disney world wearing mask, hand sanitizer/washing hands, and some soical distancing then going to a birthday party where no one is wearing masks.

I suggest avoiding Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge until as late in the evening as you can manage. It's way too crowded in both in the morning and afternoon and wait times drop significantly in the last few hours of the park being open. Hope you have a great, safe trip!

I agree, if you can hold off until the evening it thins out and personally I think the ambiance of the parks at night is better! Have fun!
