Support for Nova Photo Impact Pro 13?

Hello there! I am going to try and make this short... I need some advice for a friend.

I use Photoshop and have used it for photography in the past, so this was my first choice. I have a friend who is going to Disney with us in February and she loved the idea of making our own shirts. She went out and bought PhotoImpact Pro 13 for 98 bucks at the local Office Max or something like that. I cringed when I found out how much she spent on it, however, not everyone can afford 500 or more for Photoshop, right?

She has this program now for a few days, and we can't figure it out. I keep thinking that it should be similar to Photoshop because it LOOKS similar. I can't find some of the same tools that Photoshop has. I have tried to look up tutorials for her, but the ones we are finding have NOTHING to do with what we are trying to do here.

1st, For those of you who are using Photo Impact, where is the tutorials for basic 101 in English. She says she keeps finding them in German.

2nd, she is about to give up and return the software and she is talking about getting Elements. Is this any better?

Do you guys have any advice on what to use and what is easier? I feel lucky that I seem to be making progress with PS CS4 and she doesn't seem to be making any at all. And I feel like I can't help her because I can't even find any support boards for the program where I can find others who may be able to help her.

If that's Ulead's Photo Impact you can try to find a post by Chaoscent and she may be able to help. I've used Elements for most of my DISigns and would highly recommend it. I've since graduated to full PS when they had a promo for Elements owners to upgrade for $299 but still go back to it if what I'm trying to do is easier in PSE.

Yes Elements makes the cool names with backgrounds. I would recommend Elements for someone starting out. Youtube has TONS of video tutorials that walk you through how to do things using Photoshop Elements like names with backgrounds. Also there is a great forum like this one for photoshop users where you can get lots of help..ask DOM13 what it is called...I forgot. There is a little bit of a learning curve with elements but it can do most anything you want. I have only found a few things I can't do with elements like follow a path with words. I highly recommend it...once you get past the initial learning curve it is GREAT!!!

Thank you soo much for your help...I am the silly friend who didn't do her homework before buying PhotoImpact Pro 13. Good thing it has a 90 day guarantee!!!! I am senting it back and getting Photoshop Elements 8!!!!

Elementsvillage.com is an on-line forum with many free tutorials. The members there are very nice and extremely helpful. This tutorial will explain the process for making the names filled with photos/graphics. The tutorial was made for full Photoshop but it's the same for PSE.

I also use Elements (getting my new version 8 in about a week and a half) and love it! So many tutorials available as well as elementsvillage.com forum for any questions that come up.
