We leave on Friday. That means that I am already beginning to get the little heart flutters when I think about having to get on the plane.:(

I know all of the statistics. I've read a couple of books. I've gone through the online fear of flying course that people here have recommended.

I won't let it stop me from going, but I just hate this. Why am I such a wimp when so many other people really enjoy flying?

This time I couldn't get a direct flight, so that means TWO take-offs and landings each way. ICK!

Edited to add: I did forget to note that, with a little Xanax, I do better than I used to. My Xanax will be going along on this trip, trust me!

Any other good thoughts to share?

Sorry, I can't offer any support since I don't like flying either. We just booked a WDW trip for October and we're flying....not something I'm looking forward to. But I know I will grin and bear it. I am looking forward to not having to drive so there is hope.

Have a couple great flights and a good trip.

Good for you! You are very brave. Sounds like you have been preparing for this and I'm sure you will do fine. We are going to WDW in November and will be driving due to my fear of flying. This is the 1st time I have refused to get on a plane. Have a great trip.

I'll be a wimp with you, Dodie! ;) I have a serious fear of flying also, and I have to get on a plane on Thursday.

If the books and the course didn't help you, why not talk to your family physician about some mild medication to help you out? That's what I did, and it relaxes me just enough to take the worst of the edge off. I'm travelling solo, so I'm a little reluctant to clutch on to whoever happens to be sitting beside me! :)

:)

Be glad you have Xanax to help you.

I am sending some PD to also help :)

I just got back from my WDW trip and 4 take offs and landings. You would think it would get easier but it is about the same every time. I wish I could offer some help but I don't know of any. I was given som Xanax a couple times to try and it barely helped. One person gave me a valium. Boy did that help but I don;t know if I want to feel like that everytime I fly. Just think of all the happy stuff you will be doing in WDW and focus on that.

Hang tight Dodie mate...................:) I don't which is wose, the take off or landing, but I must say that I like the landing as you know you are on solid ground again;)

I can definately sympathise with you. I too am afraid of flying. In fact, we're driving down from NJ to WDW in August. So, I congratulate you on facing your fear and getting on the plane. Hopefully I'll be able to do that myself one day and get on a plane again.
Have a great trip:D

This is coming from someone who has logged 32000 miles in just over a year...

Take your Xanax...lay your head back...and imagine how much faster you'll get there than if you drive!

Seriously just try to relax and enjoy the flight (a little) you'll be fine. I'll send some PD your way too...that always helps.

Oh and have a GREAT time on your trip!
