Supermarkets

I know this has been posted before but can someone give me directions to the local supermarkets. I have read that there is a Goodings and Publix. We (DW & I ) are going tomorrow for a short stay of 3 nights for a LOOK SEE staying this time at BWV but also have planned a longer stay ( 12 Family ) for an 8 day at BCV for Thanksgiving Week. Would like directions from both if different.

???? Rent a car for the day or Taxi. Does anyone have experience and know the rates charges for the Taxi for this type of trip.

Goodings is in the Crossroads Shopping Center. You get on the main road in front of the Boardwalk (Buena Vista?) and follow it to DD. Turn right at Hotel Plaza (across from the Marketplace). Go straight across the intersection into the shopping center where Goodings is located.

I haven't been there yet, but I'm told there is a new Winn-Dixie. I believe instead of going straight at the light into Gooding's you turn left. It is just down the block a bit on the right-hand side.

Most car services will allow you to make a grocery stop on your way from the airport. Sometimes it is included in the price, sometimes there is a small fee. I'm not sure what a cab would cost. I'm guessing about $10-$15 each way.

Pam it is a GREAT store. Prices are good and it is super clean.

I still believe that Albertson's on Orange Blossom Trail (on the way from MCO to WDW) is a great place to shop.

Gail, since you've been to the new Winn-Dixie, exactily how do you get there? We are staying at a DD hotel and I've never ventured into that area. The closest I've gotten has been leaving DD and making a right going back to our WDW resort.

So, instead of going right out of DD Marketplace, I go straight? That will get me to the Crossroads? (and our hotel) As was mentioned, instead of going into the parking lot at Gooding's (can I see it from that intersection?) I turn left and will see Winn-Dixie on the right. Or am I really off base?LOL

I find Goodings to be expensive. I have shopped in the Publix on SR 192, sort of more on the Old Key West side of WDW. I have heard about the Winn Dixie just down the street from Goodings. We'll probably give that a shot on our October trip.

Winn-Dixie is perhaps 1/2 mile up the road after you make that left. It is on the right side, set back a bit and is just beyond the ABC store.

When you get to Crossroads, make a left at the light. It is a small ways up on your right, behind the ABC store. Heretofore, I always shopped at Super Wal*Mart, but, since the opening of WinDixie, I have no need or desire to venture to WalMart on my trip.

We are staying at a DD hotel and I've never ventured into that area.

If you are staying in a DD hotel you will be on Hotel Plaza. Depending upon which side of the street you are on, you turn one way and you'll headed toward the Marketplace area of DD and Buena Vista Drive. If you turn the other way you will be headed towards the major road (535?). Rather than turning right or left at this intersection, you go straight across and will be in the Crossroads Shopping. If you turn left, you will be headed to Winn-Dixie.
