will be at SSR 3/06 and need to stop at supermarket for supplies. ANy idea where nearest Publix or other supermarket is? Also, any one know if it's easy to get a cab to take you to store after check-in? thanks a bunch

when we were there in Nov 04 we went to the Winn Dixie which is fairly close to the resort. There is a lso a Goodings which is a little closer but the prices are higher. Both are only a couple of miles away.

Another idea is to use We Go Shop. We used it last year while at BWV and it worked great and their delivery charges are fairly low. You can even tell them where to shop. They delivered right to our room and he even put the groceries in frig away. We're using them again later this month when we're there.

There is also a Publix about 5 miles away:
8145 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL 32821-6847

We are Costco members, so we've gone there too (near the airport, just off of 441):
2101 Waterbridge Blvd
Orlando, FL 32837

We just got back from VWL last week and when we there we used WeGoShop.com for this trip. Marge, who runs the service, is very professional and the service was great. The grocery stores are not that far from SSR but if you do not want the hassle of grocery shopping I also recommend WeGoShop.

There is a Publix on SR192 that we go to a lot.

There is a Winn Dixie not far either. If you go out the gate at Hotel Plaza Boulevard and take a left, about 5-10 minutes on the right is a Winn Dixie.

Winn Dixie was very close. And better prices than Goodings.

The Winn Dixie on Apopka-Vineland Rd is very close to SSR......just exit SSR
and make a right on Vacation Club Way, go to the end of VCW and make another right. Follow road to the three way intersection at Downtown Disney and Hotel Boulevard. Make a left onto Hotel Boulevard and follow to intersection of Apopka-Vineland. Make a left onto Apopka and go straight through two traffic lights (I think). The Winn-Dixie is on the right (there's an
ABC Liquor Store in the front of the parking lot). It's maybe 2 to 2 1/2 miles from SSR.

You can go to the Publix website and put in an address and all the Publix stores will come up with links to maps.

there is a new wallmart off of 525 i think just up the road from Vistana resort.

Last October, we didn't have a car so we just walked to Goodings (about 25-30 mins), bought our groceries and took a $6 cab ride back.

Yes, there are cheaper groceries around, but if you have to take a $15 cab ride (each way) or pay $20-30 for a service, then the groceries end up costing more.

A better option might be to rent a car for one day. Pick it up at the airport and drop it off in WDW. It'll cost about $30-40, but getting to your resort faster and being able to do a few more things other than grocery shop might make it a worthwhile expense.

We love Publix,I think the prices are better then Winn-Dixie and theres a brand new store down off Rt 192. If you go to rt 4 head west and go north on rt 192. right before you get to hwy 27 there will be a publix on your right side. They also have great deli and fresh baked goods and some prepared foods.Have a great time

Here are directions to the Publix I use. It's right near Gaylord Palms. Mapquest says it takes 10 minutes to get there, but it doesn't seem that long when I drive it.

A half gallon of orange juice was SEVEN dollars at Goodings! :scared1:

I guess the oranges weren't grown in Florida

There is also a nice Publix just past the Premier Outlets. Go out Hotel Plaza Blvd towards Goodings, take a right onto Apopka-Vineland, but get into the left lane. Just after you pass under the I-4 bridge, take a left at the stoplight. Publix will be on your left after you pass the outlets.

Which rental car agencies have return locations within WDW? This sounds like a good option for our trip later this year- may actually be cheaper than dealing with cabs/shuttle services. (I know magical express is available, but we are actually getting a hotel our first night since we get in late coming from the west coast). Be nice to just get a car at the airport, go to the hotel, next day get groceries and check into SSR, return the car.

The Hilton right across the street from Downtown Disney has car rentals. I think it's Avis, but not exactly sure. That would be super close for you guys staying at SSR.

Here are the directions to the Super Wal-MArt from BWV

From BWV, take a right out of the resort, left at Buena Vista, continue past CBR and Bonnet Creek and take the exit to 536 (Epcot Center Blvd). Get into the left lane on 536 until you pass the I-4 exits. When you get to 535 turn right for the new Walmart, it's about a mile down the road.
