Has anyone heard about the Super Suppers stores? They are opening one near me and I would love to hear if anyone has tried them and what your thoughts are. Here is a link that explains what they are if you have never heard of them before: http://www.supersuppers.com/.

We have a Super Suppers here in town and I have gone. I enjoyed going with friends and talking while putting together the meals. The only thing I found was the directions for cooking the meals were a little off and resulted in non-cooked or barely cooked food. But I have friends who do it once a month and love it, I will give it another chance because the convience of having meals made and in the freezer is great. :)

I just saw that there is one of these in my area..well kind of, it's about 45 minutes away. Anyway, I've always wanted to try this!! I see that they have "kids in the kitchen" on certain days. Does anyone know what that means? Can I bring my son? I couldn't find any information about it on their site.

I haven't tried them personally, but one of my girlfriends here uses them frequetly. Sometimes she takes her DD (9) to help, and they both always have a great time. They just opened one about a mile from our house and I"m thinking of trying it soon.

The cooking issues that a poster had could be due in part to oven variances. My one year old stove that came with the house has a bad seal on the oven door-I've got to add a half hour to anything I cook in my oven when I make my meals. We end up using the toaster oven.

I manage a meal prep kitchen, and we allow kids. Some places only allow them at specific times, but kids are welcome in ours anytime, provided they work with the parent throughout the kitchen session-or they can wait at one of our tables.

If anyone's been to the Super Suppers on LI, I'd love some feedback. My family up north wants to try it after hearing me yammer on and on about it!

I've never been to Super Suppers but I LOVE the concept of meal prep kitchens. We have never made a meal we dislike at the one we go to. The food is wonderful! It has truly changed our lives and saved us lots of $$$ on groceries!

Sometimes the price looks daunting, but when we tried to copy something we made at the meal prep kitchen (it was so good we had to have more), we spent over $30 in ingredients.

The place we go to lets you split entrees, so if you're only cooking for 2-3, you can get more meals out of it, and won't have as many leftovers.

Tiggerlover- how far are you from Centreville Va? If you're within a reasonable drive, PM me and I'll give you the name of an AWESOME prep kitchen there and I'm almost positive they allow kids all the time.

We dont have a Super Suppers near us although they are opening one this summer. We do have Dream Dinners which I have done since December and I LOVE it. Everything I have tried has been good to excellent. The cuts of meat they use are excellent. I usually do 6 meals when I go and it takes about an hour. Then I have 6 good meals to pop out with little fuss. They have a good variety and the dinners are often a little different from what I normally make so thats a plus too.

The prices may look like they are more expensive but the store here did a cost comparison and went to three local stores to buy the same ingredients and the DD meals actually came out cheaper.

I definitely recomend it! :thumbsup2

From what I was told by the owner the Kids in the Kitchen is a what they call a camp for kids, you drop off your child, go run errands while your child has fun in the kitchen.

As far as kids coming with you when you attend their website says the following:

Q. Can I bring my children to a session?
We love children and know that many of our customers have children. However, due to health code restrictions, children under the age of 12 cannot attend a session. Many of our locations offer sessions and camps for children so they can experience the wonderful world of Super Suppers. Call your local store for details.

Hope this helps.

I am not sure as I have never heard of Centreville. I live in Virginia Beach (and have only been here two years) and I am not too familiar with other parts of the state.

Okay that's weird because when I click on the link in the calendar for the kids in the kitchen event, it takes me to the page to select the entrees I want. I can't imagine the kids making 12 entrees! LOL. I think I'll call them tomorrow.

That is probably the best bet. Maybe rules vary per location. I would be interested to hear what they had to say. My store isn't opening until next week, I was just lucky enough to run into the owner in front of the store on Sunday and struck up a conversation. It all seems like a neat concept and I think I will give it a try.

Tiggerlover, then you're about 3 hours away from Centreville. It's up in Northern Virginia, north of Potomac Mills and near Tyson's Corner.

I just had a baby in feb. and my mom got me a supper suppers gift certificate.I love that place also, when you go online and sign up before hand you can check the calorie and fat content. One thing I would suggest is that if a recipe calls for a sauce all ways make a little bit more. my lasanga was dry. the best thing there in my opinion is Sues sweet and Tangy flank steak. It is something that I never would have made on my own but I love it.

Ok, that would be nearer DC, right? A little too far to travel to make supper! LOL. Thanks for the info.

Another location is opening near me toward the end of the month. This one is about 15-20 minutes away so I signed up for the free 101 class. Has anyone done that? It says you get a free entree and it's a demo. I'm excited!!

Good luck. The place I managed did a grand opening special where you could make one of the meals for 16 bucks to try it. That's a great deal!

I have to say, I looked at their menu with the plan of purchasing a session 'to go' for a friend on Long Island who just had her third child. This friend cannot stand the smell of chicken and is a very good italian cook. The menu was 70% chicken, one beef, one pork and several pasta dishes that my friend could easily do herself. Anyone considering doing a session should consider what their family will or will not eat.

In eight months of managing the place I worked, my family got out of the fast food and dining out rut. We eat much better and I've lost about 25 pounds(without changing a single thing about my diet). I even continued to drop weight over the holidays, because I had healthy food at home.

I brought a toaster oven into the new job so that I could bring lunch in, rather than eating out (I prefer a hot lunch). The cost for a 6 serving meal at the kitchen is 18 dollars, but that would only get me 2 decent or three junk food lunches out.

We love the concept so much, we get DH's employee meals (he still works for my former employer) and then I do another 8 entree session.
