I was wondering if anyone has gone to Super Soap Weekend and how was it? We will be there during that time and I am wondering whether it would be worth it to go to this event. I would be traveling with my DH & 3 kids. The other factor is that we are going to WDW for a week before our Disney Cruise with our AP's which expire the day the cruise starts, so I will have to buy tickets to go back to WDW for the last couple of days of our trip. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to do this. We are also going to Universal, so we could just do that after the cruise. Any suggestions or tips would be great! :)

You will see long lines to get Autographs for the stars. They are out in the open, and usually you can get a Pic of the stars WITH someone else, from the outside of the line. So, if you feel it would be a waste, do not attend this event. :confused3 However, the rest of the park will be operating normally, in other words, minimal wait for the rides. ;)

If you are attending w/DH and kids I say defenitly not... I went last yr w/ a friend and we decided to leave. To crowded...to many fanatics..I considered myself a soap opera fan until I saw Real Soap Opera Fans.

Thank you for the warning. Starting to 2007 we were going to go down for Super Soap Weekend but it sounds like now it might not be worth it. I am a huge All My Children and General Hospital but I am not a crazy fanatic!

All I can say is "those women are INSANE"!!!!!!!!!! We were accidentally at MGM on one of those days and I will NEVER ever do that again!!!!!!! Those hard core drama queens will eat you up and spit you out if you get in the way of a possible autograph.hehe Although if your into people watching this would be a special event.......

We were there (unintentionally) in Nov of 02.
We didn't go to see any Soap stars, but it was fun watching the crazy fans that did!!

While they waited for a 15 sec. picture and hug from the stars, we walked on to every ride!!

I am not insane and I am not a crazy fanatic. I have been going to SSW for about 6 years now...
I agree that there are some women there that would qualify as insane and crazy...but you just have to look at them, roll your eyes and laugh...
You stand in line when you first get there in the a.m. which should be about 6:30 or so to get in line. They lead you back to the fastpass stands by soap...AMC, GH, OLTL. You can go through the FP line and get only one FP at a time, then you must get in line again if you want another. You are lucky to get 2 or 3 for one day. There are also motorcades, talk shows, and other fun events going on throughout the day.
I absolutely love going and look forward to it every year! This is the 10th anniversary...I have met many of the stars over the years, including Susan Lucci a couple of times.
If you are not interested in the soaps...I would definitely not go there that weekend...Nov. 12-13.

I wish I could afford to go but I don't think I could get the time off and I'm afraid of all the fans. LOL

Thanks for all the info-keep it coming-anyone else who's been to this event in the past! I love to hear both sides, to go......or not to go...... I am a soap fan, but definately not a fanatic. My DH won't admit to being a fan, but he knows all the characters! We actually met a couple of stars from GH at Disney's California Adventure a few years back while dining at the Soap Opera Bistro (no longer there). Anyway, even my DH thought that was pretty cool. The kids could care less, though! Waiting in long lines for autographs doesn't sound like fun, but the motorcar parade would be cool, just to see them. 6:30am, though, to get in line to get in! I can't even usually get to the parks at opening with the 3 kids! lol :)

When we were there in 1998, the local news was there filiming people who slept outside the gates. I have been watching all my children since I was a kid and really wanted Susan Luci's autograph, but when I saw the line go around the park..I thought it would be a waste of time. We saw her in the parade and that was enough. I personally thought the whole park was super crowded...wouldn't do it again.

jencav5...if you choose not to get autographs you don't need to be there at 6:30...you can come in when the park opens. I wouldn't wait much past 9:00-9:30 or so, because the park usually reaches capacity on those 2 days. You are no longer allowed to sleep there...the parking lot doesn't open now until 6:00. There are a lot of people who don't do autographs...there are plenty of other fun things to do for the day...the talk shows are a lot of fun! I too am a soap fan...not fanatic...but I do look forward to going each year and enjoy myself each time!
