Hi. I am toying with going to Super Soap Weekend and would love to hear about what its like, etc. Is it easy to get into the autograph sessions, etc. Do you need a fast pass, etc? Did anyone run into any actors at the resorts, restaurants, etc.? Any photos to share?

Thanks.

ooooo when is it? :confused3
Nov 11 and 12th this year! I am already making ressies for Nov. 10-13th! :thumbsup2 Yes, there will be Fastpasses for Autographs, but you have to line UP early! :thumbsup2

I have a question re autograph fast passes. I watch GH but not OLTL or AMC. Do they have fast passes for just the GH actors or all the actors as a group or fast passes for a certain actor at a certain time? Just trying to come up with a plan of attack.

Yes....each soap has their own section of fastpasses set up. Last year AMC was way in the back near NY street. A bay of FP's was set up for each actor for that soap and the lines were LLLLLLLLLLLOOOONNNNG!

So, if I want to be sure to get everyone's autograph, I might want to plan on attending both days instead of just one?

Dont get your heart set on getting everyone's autograph. You only get one fastpass each time you go through the line. You will be lucky to get through the line at least 2 or 3 times.

However, you can get somewhat close to the stars. They have several mini parades during the day. (4 or 5 actors from the same show will parade down the main street to the stage and there will be a Q&A session for about 10 mins). Also you can walk by the autograph areas and take pictures of the stars while they are doing the autograph sessions. Presigned cards are also given out at these locations - usually before or after the star is signing.

There are plenty of other activites soap related where you will get to see the actors. (Who Wants to be a Millionare has stars attending, a couple other shows in the Drew Carey Auditorium). At the end of the day they will have the grand motorcade where all stars will be in the parade and then a street jam following - a mini concert. JR from AMC and Dillion on GH usually perform and they are both GREAT!!!!

Any other questions?

Oh and I forgot to say that even though it is crowded it is so much fun!! I have gone the last 4 years (with PoohBear123) and have always enjoyed it.

Yes, and I am the one that "Tingles" when I see Nash.... :goodvibes YUM YUM YUMMY!

Is it worth going both days or should I just plan on one? I live 90 minutes away on the other side of the state but this would be a solo trip as a birthday gift to myself. I don't have to worry about what the kids or anyone else wants to do.

Do either of you "veterans" have any advice or pearls of wisdom to share? Does one show in particular have more fans, etc.? Did you see anyone at one of the resorts? Did you go to the event both days? Where has GH been set up in the past? How far in advance did you know who was going to be there? Did you plan your resort stay in the hopes that you might see an actor in the lobby? Do the actor/show fan clubs give you any perks (i.e., a fast pass bonus, etc) as an incentive to attend?

Sorry I have lots of questions.

oooh i wish i could go :sad2: that sounds like so much fun!! I absoutly LOVE GH, OLTL, and AMC!! have fun.. and says hello to sonny and jason for me :teeth:

Sonny and Jason aren't really speaking to each other much right now, but if I see them, I'll give them your best.

Having gone last year, here are my best tips:

1.. Make ADR's for meals. Even with them, we waited about 1/2 hour to be seated. The crowds are gigantic. One of the senior CM's I spoke to at the Customer Service center told me that the crowds were comparable to New Years Eve. That means REALLY crowded. Counter service was VERY slow, too, because of the crowds, and getting out of the crowds into a sit down restaurant was really welcome.

2. Stay at an Epcot resort. If you stay at BC/YC or Boardwalk, or even the Swan or Dolphin, you can walk to MGM with no problem. The busses are extremely crowded, as are the little boats.

3. If you want to get Fastpasses, get their earlier than you think to line up. And when you get there earlier than you think you should, don't be surprised to find hundreds of soap fans there before you. Last year, my DS and I got up 'early' to get on line for my mom - we were there at 6am. We were lined up almost as far back as the Christmas tree by the boat launch! People started lining up at 4. Be forewarned, bring a book and an empty bladder :teeth: .

Have fun, and we'll see you there!

Lots of questions there - will give it my best shot.

Worth going both days - YES. (you could get 1-2 autographs on both days) lots of stars to see and shows to see. If you are going for just GH then maybe one day would be enough.

I live about 70 mins away and usually stay Friday through Monday for SSW.

Advice/pearls of wisdom? Ummm expect large crowds, bring LOTS of film. Buy any merchandise you see and like quick - they sell out by day 2 most of the times. (t-shirts, pins, bags, books, etc) Stay for the street jam at least one night.

All of the shows they have are usually packed, you will need to arrive there a little early to attend.

Resorts - others have seen them at I believe it was the Boardwalk Resort.

Last year I happened to be in Epcot on Friday night and the stars were having a function at the American Adventure lobby - closed to the public - but we watched them go in and out.

GH set up? Their fast pass line is usually at star tours. when you enter the park there will be 3 lines (in different color masking tapes) taking you to the f/p area - they are clearly marked and you have to follow that line to the area.

Advance who will be there - normally the list is posted a couple months in advance but always subject to change. It is usually listed on abc.com.

I dont plan where I am staying based on where the stars are - stay wherever and go to MGM both days. We (Poohbear) and I have seen some of the actors in the parks with their families a day or two before the event.

Fan Club - some are there handing out papers with fan club info, come hand out buttons, stuff like that. no fast passes - those you can only get from a CM once going through the line in the morning.

If I think of anything else I will let you know.

You may want to go over to the Community Board - there is a thread for AMC fans/watchers (started by me) and one for GH fans/watchers.

let me know if you have any more questions.

here is a link from last years that may help a little:

http://abc.go.com/daytime/supersoap/wdw/index.html

If you look at the event map it will show you where the F/P place was and where all of the autograph locations were. Lots of good info on that site. That place will also be updated later with this years stars & info. keep checking it.

Oh and the previous poster talked about the crowds - last year was the worst I had seen it!! I think it was because it was the 10 year anniversary and there were some new faces there - like Vicky from OLTL.

SSW is my very favorite Disney event!! Yes, you need to go both days, especially if you want autographs. Be prepared, you must be there by 6:00 am to wait in line. OLTL tends to have the smallest lines every year and GH is usually the longest. You may get 1-2 autographs per day if you're lucky. When you get up to the fast pass you only get one then you have to get back in line. It stinks, but it's the only fair way to do it I guess. And staying on the Boardwalk is the best since you can walk to MGM.

It is an amazingly fun event and you won't really know what it's like until you do it. The crowds are wild but it is soooo much fun.

Even with the crowds, SSW is great fun! You never know when you'll see the soap stars out and about. We've seen them over at MK, they are usually at Epcot on Friday night, and we've seen them hanging out in the lobby of the YC/BC. My friends and I go on a quest to get everyone's picture (the ones they hand out at each autograph signing session) and we keep them in the albums you can buy each year. My DD gets quite a few candid photos of the stars she likes too. All in all, it's a blast!

169 more days till SSW!!! :cool1: :hourglass

woohoo!!! :cheer2:

Oh and just a side note. Last year I got to the park around 8:00 and still managed to get one autograph on each day - probaby could have got 2 but did not want to go back through that line.
