Eagles Defense:
4th in total yards allowed (17th passing, 1st rushing)
4th in points allowed per game.
Who was first in yards per game and 2nd in passing and rushing yards per game? Minnesota. Didn't seem to help them on Sunday.
But with New England's #1 passing attack, the Eagles will have their work cut out for them. The Eagles are the #3 rushing team, which is good for them since the Patriots run defense is not good. But you score points faster in the air.
It's going to be a high scoring game.
But that's why they play the game, right?
Patriots run defense is actually pretty good. They stuffed both Le'Veon Bell and that rookie from the Jags. It drives me nuts as a Pats fan, but it's the way they play. Bend don't break. They will give up yards, but don't let you in the end zone.
I think it's going to be a great game. Could go either way. If I was a betting man, I would bet on the Pats for a few reasons:
1. Brady vs. Foles. I like Foles and think he's done a great job, but nobody has the experience in this game that Brady does.
2. The Pats pass game is incredibly hard to defend, even for great defenses. They're so multi dimensional. If Gronk plays (which he should), he has to be double teamed. From there, they have Cooks deep, Hogan and Amendola in the slot, and White, Burkehead and Lewis in the screen game.
3. Belichick. He's a football master. He will expose any Eagles weaknesses.
Eagles best bet to win is to open a big lead at the half. No team is better at making adjustments than the Pats (see last week, and Super Bowls 49 & 51). If it's a close game at the half, the Eagles will need to play a perfect 2nd half.
