So we were going to try the Jet Blue gig out of BTV this year, but they only have one non-stop (would have to spend the night before) down and the return non-stop gets in too late for our kids to function as they are not good car sleepers.

Not to mention that adding up the hotel, fuel, and parking (forgetting about the drive time) (and we do not have to pay for parking at YUL) there is only a $400 price difference to flying out of YUL on Sunwing with non-stop flights and GREAT times!

That said... does Sunwing have sales? Anyone flown on them?

TIA!!!:wizard:

We have flown with them before and really enjoyed our trip. They actually gave a everyone a breakfast sandwich and a small glass of champagne to celebarate our trips. Our boys got apple juice. The staff was very friendly. I had got a really good deal back in January 2008 ($912.00 for the four of us. This time around when I booked our January trip the price was quite a bit more and the return flight time was awful (arriving in Toronto at 1:55AM!!) We decided to fly Southwest from Buffalo. We will give them a try and see how it goes.

Thanks! Wow -- breakfast on the plane, it has been years since I have had more than snack mix on the flight! LOL!

I will keep my eyes peeled, but I think we will go with them. non-stop, no driving, and food. Wins in my book! I would love to get airfare for less than $2,000 for 4 though... might be wishful thinking.

Oops... good thing I looked more carefully... they only fly down and back once a week... works for going down, but we are coming back on Tuesday! Back to square one...

We would have booked with Sunwing, but their return flights are way too late. Ugh, hard to imagine getting home at 3:30am after full day in disney.

But that's why their flights are cheaper.

And outbound from toronto is 6:30am. Again, not ideal traveling times especially with children.

Sunwing is our top CDN airline!! They are wonderful! Here is why:

Hot Meal
Free Champagne
Hot Towel Service
Comfy Leather Seats

They also have sales!! We are planning on going to Cuba with them in December.

I don't understand why they have changed their flights. We loved flying with them but now the times are just not working out. And like you said with children it makes it much more difficult. Wish they would go back to the old way.

Have you tried checking flying out of Plattsburgh? My Dad did that last year and got a really good deal through Allegiant and it's free parking at the airport.

We would have totally taken them, but with the once-a-week only option for Montreal it is out of the question, unless I can convince DH to spend 14 nights rather than 10! LOL!

Do they ever add more flights per week based on season and demand?

We would have hotel nights on both ends (they do not fly on Tuesdays)... both in WDW and we would have to take DS out of school at noon before break. And rent a car... no ME where Allegiant lands.

I have to get to WDW and get my 1/2 marathon packet before 6pm on Sat. Another limiting factor for finding cheap flights!

Totally understand that. I wanted a flight that would be there early morning too. I am running the Goofy and January. Then my two boys decided they wanted to run the family 5k which is on Friday. We have to be there early on Thursday to pick up all our packets. Makes things a little time crunch doesn't it? What about Ottawa? I am just throwing ideals out. Hope you don't mind? I totally understand what you are going through.

I so don't mind! We have been going around with this for a while. We even talked about me going down early, but then figured that was not really a cost-saving option since we only have one car and the extra night.

Not to mention that the kids might overthrow us as in protest. :rotfl:

Good luck with the Goofy! And thanks for the thoughts... I am looking into Ottawa now. Sadly, Sunwing does not fly to Orlando from there.

When I did my first half at Disney in 2006. My friend and I flew down on the Thursday before the race. My boys and DH were so jealous!! :goodvibes DH said never again. It was not fair!! :lmao: He is worse than the kids!!

I did not realize that Sunwing did not fly out of Ottawa.
Wow!! I just checked Sunwing out of Montreal for your dates and they don't give you much of choice of flights. You would think with such a large city they would have more choice.
Let me do some searching for you and see what I come up with.
Have a good night!

I've never flown with Sunwing, but I will be this November. I got a great deal on a direct flight out of Toronto... $390 return and the times are perfect for me, arriving in Orlando at 9:30am, leaving Orlando at 11:30pm a week later. I'm not traveling with small kids, so the late flight is okay.... more time at Disney! I'm really excited about actually getting a meal... I can't remember the last flight I was on where they served anything more than a bag of pretzels!

So we had decided to pull DS out of school early (turns out it was only one hour) and fly Allegiant since it is about $2000 cheaper than YUL. We were going to add a night at the beginning of the trip and leave after the cruise, deleting the 2 night AKL portion. Partly to save some $$, but mostly b/c the trip was getting out of control and we were already going to have 6 nights at WDW and the 3 day cruise.

Was all set to book it, but Allegiant does not fly on Sundays!

I would hold out for a West Jet or Air Canada sale, but doubt that it will come since it is March break.

Feel like this is a bad game of Monopoly and I keep getting the "go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200" card! :rotfl2:

I did some searching for you and there is not as many options for you out that way as here. What are you going to do now?

It is a monopoly game. A lot of taking chances. I booked our flights through Southwest because I was scared that with marathon weekend they would book up quickly. Thank God I do some reading on this site and heard about the credit SW will give you if you see your flight for cheaper. I up to $358.00 credit so far.:woohoo: I sat there thinking I should have waited but you just never know. Now we will just have to book another trip before next September!! :rotfl:

I am going back and forth between WestJet and JetBlue. I should find out if either of them do a credit like Southwest. WJ would be easy since it is down the street, but JB we could check-in at the hotel. JB is still under $2000 and is $1000 cheaper than WJ...

I priced out Allegiant more (with hotel night and airport transportation) and now it is more than JB!

I am worried about the marathon as well and figure there will not be any sales due to march break and several JB flights only have 5 seats left right now!

I know JB gives credits for sure. I doubt any Canadian airlines do. I checked out the seat sale that WJ is having. I would have still cost us about $2000.00 for the five of us to fly out. I keep checking my SW flights and keep getting them cheaper. So far I have a $358.00 credit with them. All the more reason to book another Disney trip!!:lmao:
I would book soon if I were you. Especially with the race. You don't want to miss out on your beautiful medal. Will this be your first ever Disney race? I am addicted to them!!:rotfl:

I flew Sunwing in Dec with them and they were great. We left Toronto at 6:30 am and left Orlando at 10:30 am on the way home. I do not remember leather seats though. I do remember the seats were kinda small, but did not really care since it was a direct flight.

On time, no issues, good staff, and paid $350.00 rtn per person at Christmas!:banana: It doesn`t get better than that as far as I am concerned. We travelled Dec 13-23rd.

And I think I booked only a few months away. :thumbsup2

I do remember not really liking the breakfast sandwich, but there was a movie on the flight.

hello fellow Montrealer!
We are going down in March too...and we too are doing the Disney & Cruise thing (can't wait!!)
I, like you, was waiting patiently for the Jet Blue prices to come out. They were horrible last week and now they are worse. Allegiant is still better and while the times are good for us, it kills to me drive down there and deal with the border when Dorval (oops Trudeau!) is 5 minutes from my house (not to mention that Allegiant lands at Sanford not MCO and that's about 30mins north of MCO so its another LONG drive).
We went down at the same dates last year and we flew Allegiant because when I booked in September they had the best rates. Had I waited a couple of months, I would have had the same price with Westjet. Even though it was for the busy March timeframe, both Air Canada and Westjet went on sale last November. I'm hoping for the same and for now I'm waiting ....
