Back in October I purchased return airfare from YYZ to MCO from Sunwing. Departure Feb 14/07 return Feb 25/07. This is the break down copied and pasted from my confirmation e-mail:
Passengers: 2 Adults
Rates: Passenger 1 $219
Passenger 2 $219

Protection Plan: Not selected
Sub-total: $438
Taxes: $406 ($203 per person x 2)
Total Trip: $844

Today copied and pasted from their web-site:
Rates: Passenger 1 $279
Passenger 2 $279

Protection Plan: 0
Sub-total: $558
Taxes: $286 ($143 per person x 2 )
Total Trip: $844

So the fares went up but the taxes went down and how weird is it that the total trip cost is the same price? Would anyone know why? And do you think I should call Sunwing?

When Sunwing first advertised their flights to MCO I called them and attempted to get an explanation on how the taxes and fess worked.
After speaking to 2 of their reps I never did get a definitive answer.
It seems to me that they just make it up as they go along by advertising at low rates but adding absobetent taxes and fees (the low rate is a way to entice the poor slob who doesn't notice the taxes before its too late :goodvibes ). Personally speaking I cant understand how the taxes and fees can fluxuate so much since the taxes are a set % while fees (which may be for a fuel surcharge or something) certainly wouldn't fluxuate or increase so dramatically in such a short period of time.
I should say that its not just Sunwing that does this.Other Canadian charter companies do it as well. One more reason to shuffle off to Buffalo . :)

I am so frustrated. I called Sunwing and they don't have a break down of the fees and they don't know who regulates them. And they were extremely rude on the phone I hope their staff at the airport will be better.
