Has anyone stayed there???/

Is it close to WDW? How long of a drive?

Is it clean, secure?

Does it really sleep 8???

Any problems???

Thanks for any info at all...I know nothing of this place and it's for my Brother and his family and I want to help..It's the first time he brings his family to WDW and I want to try to help...

Thanks

We just returned from a week's stay at this resort and loved it. Very close to Disneyworld property!! Friendly staff, great activities poolside during the day. We had a 3 BR, 3 BA condo and were amazed at the amount of room - the couch converts into a bed as well but we didn't use it. Another great feature of this resort is the screened in balcony - very relaxing in the morning and evening to sit outside. Any other questions I can answer?

Hi...Thanks for answering...

I wanted to know about the distance from WDW in miles...Where the resort is located...and what size beds are there???

Thanks for any info?

Is there a washer/dryer, dishwasher?

Here's the floorplan for Embassy Suites Grand Beach, which is the same resort as the Sunterra (two sections of the same place - the only difference is that the Embassy only offers dedicated 3BRs and the Sunterra offers many unit sizes, including 3BR lock-offs). Hope this works!

Yes, every 3BR has an inroom washer/dryer and a dishwasher. Here are the RCI pages for Embassy and for the Sunterrathe resort, for a little more detail. The street address is 8317 Lake Bryan Beach Blvd. Orlando FL 32821 - try mapquest!

The two master suites each have a king bed (and jacuzzi tub) and the 3rd BR has two twin beds. The LR has a double sleeper sofa. HTH!

The resort is only about 2 miles from Disney. The resort is off 536 - to get to Disney we went to the intersection of 536&535 and 535 takes you into the parks. Traffic was light on these highways.

Thanks guys...I'll let my Brother know...

You can always count on the DIS!

Could you please let me know about these resorts. They look beautiful. Do you have to own a timeshare or agree to take a tour. Can you just make a reservation? I couldn't find any rates?
Thanks for your help. I'm just starting to plan my next trip and this will be the shortest trip yet, 5 nights, and the first time I'm thinking of staying offsite.

We stayed there last year and liked it very much. We are going back to WDW in Janauary and were almost ready to book a place at Grand Beach...it was going to be a timeshare tour deal, 2 bedroom, and the price was about $ 80 per night. But we got a similar deal at Cypress Pointe (through Hotel Kingdom) with no tour required, so for the same price, we opted to book a place where to timeshare tour is required. But the Grand Beach is very close to Downtown Disney (5 minutes?) and not too far from the Parks (10 minutes tops ?), so the location is very good. I would recommend it...and yes, the screened porch is very nice for sitting with your morning coffee...there is a lake you may see from your unit that is also real pretty...grounds are well kept also...enjoy !!!

Do you have to own a timeshare or agree to take a tour. Can you just make a reservation? I couldn't find any rates?

Most timeshare resorts do rent to the general public. If you call them directly or their parent company, you'll be quoted rack rates which are naturally high. Ask about special rates. Promotional nightly rates usually require a timeshare sales tour. Weekly rates are usually significantly reduced but do not include daily housekeeping (though the place is cleaned between guests, of course). AAA, AARP, Gov't Employee rates and other discounts are often available.

If you are okay with a weekly rental, consider renting from an owner. They usually just want to recover their own annual maintenance fees and expenses. Expect rates of about $500-$1,000/week on a 2BR or 3BR, with $700 being typical and very worthwhile for one of the better properties with many resort amenities.

You can find several locations online with owner rental listings. I like TUG's Classifieds. TUG is a great resource for understanding timeshares - especially avoiding overpaying! The classifieds, Advice articles and bulletin boards are all accessible to non-members. But the resort reviews and ratings are for members only. HTH!
