We will be on the December 3rd, Magic Western Cruise.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for suntan lotion for DH, DD (6) and myself? :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

a good spf15 lotion is a must. Don't worry about anything over that it's just a catch for us to pay more...learned that in chemistry class..... :smooth: :sunny:

When you go to Key West go to a store called Key West Aloe.Great lotions.Get one called save a tan. :cool1: :smooth: :cool2:

I'm very fair-skinned and notice a definite difference between SPF 15 and 30 (although I did read that anything over 30 doesn't make a difference). All brands seem to work fine, although generics tend to be more watery. We bought some of the new spray-on stuff so if we separate, we don't have to worry about having someone around to replenish our backs. Keep enough lotion on throughout the day is important!

Bullfrog gel, or Bullfrog spray for kids. Goes on quick and easy and last for hours in the water. Except no substitute!

I use Shade SPF 40

It works!!!!!

You can definately tell where you do not put it!!! I tend to be fair skinned and burn easily. I love Shade

We use Ocean Potion, which is made a few miles from Port Canaveral (you pass the facility on your left as you head east on SR528 toward the Port after exiting I-95).

One key thing for us is getting a PABA free sunscreen. My DD got skin cancer at 5, and the conventional sunscreens were little protection, unfortunately (and we take great care to protect our childeren). This particular formulation was recommended by her dematologist(s).

Also, this is one of the most inexpensive sunscreens (comparable in price to the "No-ADD" stuff) and is available widely in Florida and elsewhere.

Here is a link to the Ocean Potion website for more info and distribution outlets: http://www.opotion.com

I also highly recomment the RIT Sunguard product to treat clothing for sun protection. You can find that here: http://www.ritdye.com/sun_guard/

The only one I found was really crappy was the No-Ad stuff....burnt everyone in our party who was using that crap! I use Banana Boat Quick Dry Sport....it goes on clear and there is minimual rubbing required. It is so much easier to use that on kids, especially those kids who don't like putting the stuff on. My daughter would make me rub and rub till there was no white left on her body..this one goes on clear and is so easy to use!

We love Coppertone Sport. We spend a lot of time at the beach, and have been using this on DH, myself and our 3 kids for about 5 years now. I won't buy anything else.

It goes on dry, it is not sticky or slimy at all, and it won't run into your eyes. It really protects (even my very fair, red headed 8 yo ds). It is important to remember to reapply it during the day. Even when I forget to reapply it, I don't burn, I just get tan, but I try to avoid that. They have a spray on formula that is great, and now they have a continuous spray which we haven't had a chance to try yet.

I ususally find the best prices at Costco, and stock up at the beginning of the season.

We just bought the continuous spray by Coppertone for our June WDW trip. Tried is just on my arm and it seems to spray and cover nice and even.

Did a search and came up with these (see link)...I prefer spray on and Coppertone just came out with a continuous spray that I want to try (not spray pump like others).

We love this stuff!! We all hate to rub in lotion and with so much to do and so little time, who wants to waste time slathering and rubbing in lotion? You just spray and in a few seconds it dries - Wonderful!

We LOVE the continuous spray Coppertone Sport. It works great and stays on all day. It is so easy to apply. One note though, the bottle doesn't last long....at ALL! It hold 6 ounces as opposed to the 8 in other bottles, but the formula that makes it spray must use a lot of product because we ran out nearly immediately. It is so good and so easy though that I'll just buy it more frequently.

We slather on the Soppertone Sport before we head out and then bring the Coppertone spray to reapply. Not sticky and works great.

Just wanted to pass along this awful experience we had. I bought colored sunscreen when my kids were little. I thought they would think it was cool. One of my kids had a very, very bad allergic reaction to it. Plain old white sunscreen for us now!

No-Ad was the top rated sun tan lotion in the Consumer Reports tests.

I use a LOT of sun tan lotion since my Blood Pressure medicine makes me more sensative to the sun. Out here in California the price is the same for the higher SPFs. I always buy SPF 45. I buy the cheapest brand, and other than some strange scents they put in some brands, they all work fine. That is the other advantage No Ad has, it's unscented.

I have used No-Ad with good results, and I am a fast burning semi-albino! But it is thinner than some of the other brands, so I make sure to re-apply it every couple of hours.

We use Waterbabies 45. Works great (even at the water parks where you are geting splashed big time with water and laying down in the slides etc). It seems like we can go at least 4 hours between applications ( :sunny: not recomended :sunny: )

I really dont have a suggestion on sunscreen, but for those of us that always seem to "forget" the sunscreen there is a new product from Bath & Body Works that is awsome!! It is called "Put It on Ice Pain-Relieving Gel with Lidocaine". I have not found anything better, and I get burnt about 2 times a month on average.

There are several brands of that gel, and you are so right...IT IS GREAT!! Whatever brand you buy, you must be sure to get it with lidocaine. If it's just aloe, it doesn't relieve the pain nearly as well. It seems to reduce my peeling, too. Even though we're good about lotion, my husband and I keep the gel on hand just in case.
