Day 9- Saturday, April 2 - Departure and drive home
So the trip is over
We hit the road bright and early - 4:30 AM, with plans to drive straight through. Walking to the car that morning, still dark out, what do we come across - a SNAKE!! Slithering and moving all over the place - YUK!!!!!!!! Time to go!!!
We had a fairly uneventful drive home, except for a little "excitement" at lunch - see the dining report for that. Some rain and high winds in West Virginia. DH had to keep correcting with the wheel due to the wind and that started to make me a little motion sick, even in the front seat!! Not bad though. On the trip down, the kids didn't sleep at all. This time, DD slept a lot - catching up from the busy week. She definitely wore herself out each day. She fell asleep right away as we started driving, and slept until about 8 AM and then slept another 3 hours or so in the afternoon. DS didn't sleep AT ALL. I guess he's like me now - can't sleep in the car. He used to, but not anymore.
We made it home at exactly 10 PM, so 17 1/2 hours. Not too bad, especially with the extra 1/2 hour for the lunch "drama". Would've made GREAT time without that. We unloaded into the mud room, I started a load of laundry. We put the kids to bed and I, showered, switched the laundry, started another load and hit the sack.
As much as I hate to leave WDW and the Poly, your own bed (and shower) does feel good!!!
So, that's all folks!! Thanks for reading!! We had another great trip and we're looking forward to next year!!
