sunshade for special needs stroller

We use a convaid, but don't have the sunshade. I'm not going to spend $300 to buy the one that convaid makes. What do others use? Not sure if the hood styles they sell for umbrella strollers will attach? Looked at umbrellas to clip on but I'm guessing probably too difficult in parks, kind of wide for navigating through crowds and don't look like they attach very securely. Any experience with those? DoesDisney even allow them?

What kind of Convaid special needs stroller do you have and what kind of push handles does it have?
That would be helpful for troubleshooting for you.

I don't think the umbrella type would work for the reasons you mentioned. I've seen people with them outside of Disney and they don't seem very secure.

We have a convaid cruiser. It has straps across the back of the seat. We sometimes use a telescoping compact umbrella and stick the handle in the straps on the back. We do also use the an umbrella that attaches with a clamp (made for a radio flyer wagon) that also works reasonably well. I don't think a stroller shade would work on ours.

I helped a friend out in a similar bind. What we found that worked well was a bit of sail-cloth and those big black binder clips you get at the office supply and some 1/2" pvc pipe to make the overhang frame. If you cut down the long backside of a pvc t-fitting you can then use that piece as a clamp onto the frame of the stroller, then just build the new bit of frame with pvc pipe and some fittings and the special pvc glue. paint it to match the stroller and it won't look hokey at all. Then use the binder clips to hold the shade material to the pvc pipe. In lieu of sailcloth, a bit of an old tent would work. The whole thing cost about $25 and looked good enough to get people asking where we bought it.

I can try to dig up a picture or make a sketch if anyone cares.
