Construction = no animals (Sunset savanna is currently closed correct)?

So, if Kidani is partially opening in May '09, and the Sunset savanna is supposed to be re-opening on April 15th, shouldn't we expect ALL of the construction to be completed on that savanna (which is the vast majority of Kidani)? That would only make sense to me and if that's true, much more than half of Kidani should be open in May right? For the most part, I have heard that only half will be open. Thinking about the animals, that doesn't make sense, does it?

Am I not thinking of something?

I think others have posted the Sunset Savanna still has animals in a smaller area. (It may even be a benefit to see greater animal density)

Opening the savanna should be able to happen after exterior construction is complete (While while some to all of the interior constuction is still going on)

There are most definately still animals on the sunset savanna. We just walked past there on our way back from dinner. And actually there appears to be more animals since the space is so much smaller.

WebmasterCricket:

IIRC, the Sunset Savanna closure dates are Jan 15 to April 15, 2009. During that period the savanna will be completely empty of animals.

I think there are two important factors to consider in answering your question:

1. Just because the exterior construction is complete doesn't mean the rooms will be ready for guests. Given the additional challenges presented by the savannas, it makes sense to get all of the outside work done at once. But that doesn't mean all of the rooms will have beds and TVs and....walls!

2. Rooms are only added to the DVC inventory as their points are sold to members. Regardless of how many rooms are physically ready to be occupied, if only 1/4 of the rooms have been added to member inventory, we will only be able to book 1/4 of Kidani. The rest of the rooms will be available to CRO until the points are sold.

Hope that helps.
Tim

I wonder if somehow the developers will make available some non-sold Kidana rooms (eat those points) to make up for the shortcomming of available Jambo points during the no-animal construction period (Sunset not charged as Savannah?) Otherwise they'd have more AKV points owned than available for booking during the year?

okay though that DVC had say it would only be the Kidani part - not the Jambo part.

this is when the new animals arrive and they have to adjust?

I think.:confused3

the older animals are use to the fuss - of course the older animals might want to fight the newer ones. so that might be the problem.

I think these points are the reality of what is going to happen. The exterior (or at least that face of the building) will appear complete in May. Since the animals are returning, I can't imagine them not being complete with that part of the work. Once the exteriors are done, I don't think the interiors will be far behind. I'm betting the likelihood of full construction completion should not be too long after the summer months.

I'm trying to gauge the impact the ongoing construction will have in May in Kidani. If the animals are there at least on Sunset (who knows about the new savanna), I have to think it will be as they are saying and for the most part, be a non-issue.

I'm thinking about silly stuff like, "Yeah of course the pool is complete. Oh you wanted WATER in it? Not until June, sorry. Feel free to hike over to Jambo."
