Sunscreen in February?

We typically go in September and January.

In September we need 60 sunscreen or they burn. January we need 30 or they burn. Hope this helps!

We were there in Feb 07 and needed it. The mornings were chilly but by afternoon the sun became very hot. I would definitely take it.

I'm no expert, but I would think that any time the sun is shining on you, you should have sunscreen on. I think it's even more important when the weather is cooler and you don't feel your skin burning like you would in the summer.

Just my opinion!

Always, always need sunscreen, especially in Florida. In FL, often what looks like a cloudy day will have a UV index of 7, as high as a sunny day up north.

Unless you are not leaving the house, you should always have sunscreen on your skin. We love Neutrogena's Helioplex, completely non-greasy and great sun protection. It's the only sunscreen I can get DH to wear.

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. I'll make sure to add "sunscreen" to my list of things to pack. Since it is about 5 degrees in Minnesota today, it's hard to imagine being somewhere warm and sunny enough for sunscreen! I can't wait!

IKWYM -- We are in Massachusetts, and with the snow and ice we've had lately, sunscreen does not come to mind, even though I'm packing the swimsuits.

I agree. It's the rays in the sun you need the protection from not the heat level. The rays are there no matter how hot or cold it is. If you are going to be in the sun all day bring sunscreen or someone will be paying for it for sure. B

I am a Minnesota girl too. Could we possibly be any colder? My poor kids will be icicles at the bus stop in the morning!

Let's see - it's just a few days past the shortest day of the year.

New Year's Eve day my DD was splashing around in the hot tub from about 9 - noon, and got a light sunburn - and she had a base tan already.

I looked at her at 11, thought about the sunscreen, and decided against it. Should have hunted some down!

Better safe than burned!

Every time we go it's always late Jan/early Feb. The first couple times we needed sunscreen most of the time, but the last time we went (this past year) we never needed sunscreen once. We didn't even put it on at the water parks, not really because we didn't need it (although it was cold and cloudy though) but just didn't think about it because of the weather. No sunburns or tans. LOL

We went in February, and I was smart enough to use sunscreen on me and DS. Hubby decided against it -- except for this one spot on his bicep, where he has a tattoo. He didn't want the tat to fade.

It was really funny, because my hubby ended up burnt all over -- except for one hand print over his tattoo. Even the tops of his feet got burnt. He couldn't wear shoes for two days!!

True. I wear sunscreen year round no matter what the weather or location.

If I travel to Hawaii or Florida, though, I make sure to use a stronger SPF and apply it more often throughout the day. Plus, I use clothes with sunscreen protection, a hat, and sunglasses. :thumbsup2
