Is this open to anyone or just guests of Animal Kingdom? This sounds really cool and if it's not open to anyone it definitly should be!

Actually it is only open to guests staying on AKL CL. It was wonderful and worth every penny.

my response to this question in another forum:

sunrise safari is *only* available to *concierge level* guests at *animal kingdom lodge*.. technically, you only need to be staying there the night before, but it's a nice little pricetag in itself + the hotel room.. there's also a sunset safari for the same privileged bunch.

now for concierge level guests at ALL resorts (big difference, i know), they can book special afternoon safaris, that often go off the track onto less traveled roads as well as make stops. this would be an example of one of those groups:

(ignore the dirt on my sensor please)

ETA: there is also a special grand gathering safari as well. if you don't make up your own grand gathering, you may be able to coordinate with other folks, i dunno if that's an ongoing thing on DIS.

The sunrise safari also includes the huge buffet breakfast afterwards. Samantha Brown just sort of cruised by it on the AKL show yesterday on the travel channel, but it is wonderful.

The chefs come in super early to make everything fresh. Then they come in, introduce themselves, and tell you all about the dishes. There are quite a few exotic things, but reg. breakfast food, too. On your way out you get a fast pass to the reg. safari.

The AKL animal guide that came with us, also sat with us, and we got to ask her questions about all the animals on our particular savannah. We found out that the kudu on our trail was named Hefner, after the Playboy mogul, and the largest giraffe was named Bruce!

I booked a few days at the AKL CL just so we could take this safari. I saw the show on Travel Channel yesterday and I'm so excited! The bus Sam Brown was on looked a lot different from the one in Brad's picture - it was a nice open air type thing. Is the bus different in the Sunrise Safari and the afternoon one that Brad took?

The vehicle used on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride is the same one used on the Sunrise Safari.

How much is it??????? Cannot seem to find the answer to this question any where! HELP!!!!! Thank you.

DH wants to know where is the breakfast served and what does it include? We want to be fully informed before making decision to pay for the club level. Thanks for any additional information you can share!

Just about anything you could want! 4-5 different egg dishes, 4-5 different meats, southern biscuits and gravy, tons of fresh fruit, breads, even Apple Cobbler and Chocolate cake! All buffet style.

It's excellent.

The safari is amazing. I went on it last summer and had a wonderful time.
The breakfast was very good. The ride was more than an hour for me. Took alot of photos . It starts very early in the morning to.

Where do they serve this wonderful meal?

As others have said, the Sunrise Safari is only available to AKL CL guests and it is offered on Sundays and Thursdays. It does cost extra and theme park admission is not included so you will have to have an admission ticket. The safari takes about an hour so what time you leave will depend on the time of year and when the park opens. Since the safari follows the ride route and uses ride vehicles, you have to be done by the time the park opens. The breakfast is a huge African themed buffet and it is delicious. It was served in a private room in Tusker House but due to the construction on the Tusker House, it is being served elsewhere (I forget). The food is still the same however. There was plenty of fresh fruit, egg dishes, sticky buns, some special french toast, cereals, bacon, and about a zillion other things that could fill your caloric needs for a week:rotfl: Oh, they also give you a fast pass so you can get right on the regular safari ride after breakfast. With b'fast, it runs into opening time so you won't be the first over to Everest if that matters to you.

The other safari - Wildlife Discovery Excursion - is open to any concierge level guest at WDW and it is offered twice daily. It lasts about an hour and generally follows the ride route but pulls off to let you take photos and then takes a back road at the end. The vehicle is different from the ride vehicle. No food is included and I think it costs $45 per person. It was very interesting and there were lots of photo stops but I prefer the Sunrise Safari. And, with b'fast and the lower cost for kids, the Sunrise Safari is actually a better deal.
