We are going on the Sunrise Safari on Dec. 6. At exactly what time do you meet?

The Concierge CM said that guests with AP's can't get scanned because that don't have the biometric(?) equipment. She said we would have to get scanned at the entrance. When did you go to the front of the park to get scanned? I guess it seems like a lot of trouble to trek to the front of the park to get scanned if there are still things we want to do inside of the park.

Wow! I would like to know the answer to this as well. We're scheduled for 11/18. Daughter and I will have APs and one person in another family that we'll be with will have an AP.

I think it meets really early--like 6:30 am so how are aps supposed to enter? Surely they have something set up. Maybe they just don't scan the AP at all since it says when the expiration date is.

Hmmmm.. I have done the sunrise safri twice and never seen anyone have to go elsewhere to be scanned.

I would imagine that you just have to produce your annual passes to the concierge, just as everyone else produces there park hoppers or UPH just so they can ensure you do have valid AP's.

You meet at 7:00 am in the lounge, there is coffee, tea, juice and some pastries out by then.. but don't eat too much

save yourself for breakfast. :)

While you are having a coffee, the concierge collects your passes/resort ID.. etc to make sure everyone has park admission and they scan park hopper people to use up a day.

Cass,

Time wise. How long does this take? If we meet at 7:00 am about how long will it be when we are finished with the buffet at The Tusker House?

It is because of you that we decided to take the Safari. Thank you for sharing so much with us all. :p

Lori

:) thanx for the nice words, I hope you really enjoy yourselves.

We were on the bus by 7:30ish and at the safari ride departure by 7:45ish... the safari was about 45minutes.... breakfast by 8:30am-ish and we were out of there by about 9:15am.

Regular park guests were just reaching the Africa area from their walk from the main gate when we left breakfast.

Breakfast is wonderful by the way!

Also, the Concierge will leave all the instructions on the night before the safari in a nice little folder during turndown.

Yes, THANK YOU, Cass! Appreciate your advise, knowledge and your experience. I followed you at the YC/BC in September never thinking I'd be back so soon to do AKL!

My DD is really pumped and she'll experience her 10th birthday while we're in the World!

Sharon

Cass you are right. The Concierge CM did say that we would have to show our APs or AP vouchers before leaving for the Safari. We would also have to go to the entrance and be scanned at some point after the Safari.

I am hoping to get a late check out so we won't have to rush after breakfast to check out by 11:00. If we are done by 9:15 then that shouldn't be a problem. I'm still going to ask for a 1:00 check out.:)

My son is 9. My daughter is going to Bomas for the cookie decorating. Do boys do this too? I think he would enjoy it because he is very artistic. Does it last about 30 minutes?

Thanks,

Lori

Hi... sure there are boys too!

It goes very quick.. my DD was done in literally 5 minutes... if it is not busy they can decorate another.

Cass...

When we were there we did not go back to the entrance at any point during the day to have our passes swiped. They were checked by concierge staff when we checked in for the safari. The concierge deks is next to the lounge and, as I recall, they came and got our passes and checked them in for us as we munched on some snacks.

Take the previous advice about not eating or drinking too much, the breakfast is absolutely incredible.

We did the Sunrise Safari last December, and were never told to go to the front and get scanned. The only problem you might have would be if you wanted to get a Fastpass - but I'm pretty sure there would be an override. We didn't get any Fastpasses that morning at AK - it was very quiet, with no waits for anything!

Thanks Crcrazy,

I had not thought about Fast Passes. I think most people will be at the Magic Kingdom watching the filming of the Christmas Parade.

The Sunrise Safari is the best tour at WDW. We had annual passes and they just looked at them at the concierge desk. We had to be there at 6:30 but the AK was opening at 8 AM in those days. Now that the AK opens at 9 AM, it is not too hard to get to this tour.

Again, this is one of the best tours at WDW. Have fun.
