We've decided to purchase a portable SunPass transponder to use on a trip to south Florida. We also have a trip to Ft Wilderness planned for this fall. Will we be able to use the SunPass lanes on the Turnpike or does a trailer need to go through the cash lane? I know that the charge for a tow vehicle + trailer is considerably higher than the rate for a car.

Thanks!

No, you use the Sunpass lane. Make sure both your vehicle and trailer tag information are put in when you set up the account. All you really need to do is make sure that there is money on the account, and I set up an automatic system where $20 is added to the account when it drops below $10.

I have used SunPass on a few different trips to Florida with my 5er. I never had a problem, except once I was charged for 5 axles instead of 4 (believe I was going too fast through the toll plaza). When I set up my account I never entered my trailer tag, just my truck. Just be sure to do the 25 mph speed limit through the Sunpass lanes and you shouldn't have a problem, the system will automatically count the number of axles and charge you accordingly.

Thank you so much, this was very helpful-think we'll order one.
