Sundresses at Disney

I love sundresses, but I hate them when I forget my spanx (they're perfect for under skirts) and bodyglide!

I packed a whole bunch of sundresses, I don't think I'm going to wear any of them in the parks though. I have thicker thighs for someone my size and the rubbing hurts sometimes, especially in the heat. In desperate needs I've used deodorant to ease the pain :lmao:

How do you feel about wearing sundresses to the parks? Trying to decide what to pack.

I wear desses all the time so it wouldnt be a big deal for me I'd probably wear bike shorts underneath though so your not worried about it getting in or out of rides and especially during the ride. No one wants to be self concious all day that'd make for a bad vacation.

Just use the deodorant right when you put on the dress or some powder. You may need to reapply, but it will help.

I have a cute dress that I can take, but I will need to find some shorts & maybe leggins to wear under it for when it gets cooler.

I would say go for it! I'm planning on wearing some dresses at WDW this year.

A little off topic, but I always wear leggings to walk around the parks; ALWAYS.
They are a fat girl's dream, seriously. If you have chub rub leggings are a God send. Just realize that you can't get more than 3 trips out of most pairs of leggings. The ones I had from my previous 3 trips I've worn holes into at the inner thighs. So consider wearing leggings or biker shorts underneath!

I wear sundresses. If I'm going to be doing rides, I just wear biker shorts underneath.

My DD and I will be in dresses almost every day. They are what we wear at home for the summer.

I wore one in August. With LOTS of Glide on the thighs ;)

If the humidity is low, then YES, I'd wear them too. But when I was there in the 95+ heat in AUG and wore my skirt I was nothing but the "chub rub".
So next time it's Body Glide for me, too.

Here's another vote for sundresses! American Eagles sometimes has really soft comfy and cute dresses.
From memory, I think space mountain is one of the more tricky rides to get in and out of. But if you strategically place your handbag in front of you, like you were getting into or out of a car in a short dress, then you should be ok unless your dress is really short.

I think you should wear what ever makes you happy and comfy. I personally wouldn't be comfy wearing a sundress but both my teen daughters wear them when we are at the parks. If you are comfy in a sundress then you should wear one:thumbsup2

Ditto. I've heard many stories here on the boars about women who experienced often chaffing after wearing a dress to the parks.

I wish I had known about "glide'. I wore a sundress one day to Epcot and by the end of the day I had to sit with my legs spread apart.(i was discreet)
When we got back to the hotel and I had a chance to look at my inner thighs, I couldn't believe it! I had these huge, red welts on my legs. It kind of freaked me out. I had baby powder and vaseline so I used that for the next few days and wore capris or shorts.

I haven't worn a sundress in Disney yet, but I wear nothing but skirts and dresses all summer long. I find that spraying my thighs with deoderant before I get dressed works wonders at keeping away any rubbing or chafing. I usually bring a container of Gold Bond Powder with me just in case I end up with anything. The stuff works great. Put it on at night, wake up in the morning feeling 100% better.

My friend is wearing sundresses and suggesting I do the same but I'm torn. I lost 18 lbs but I'm still much to fat. Not obese or anything but quite the chubby mama. I usually like to wear my Mickey T's with shorts but I also wear a body shaper and I'm wondering how bad I am going to swelter in 2 weeks. I actually like the body shaper because it smooths me out and keeps any rolls from chafing on shorts, etc. No muffin tops, etc. I have some nice cool longer sundresses but I don't find myself comfortable with all my chubby arms and back hanging out. If i ditch the shaper, I feel uncomfortable with my bumpy and rippley body too. Ugh. I can't win until I loose more weight I guess. :scared:

I wear dresses often in Dinsey, I put bike shorts on underneath which makes it more comfortable to climb into rides. :thumbsup2

Jockey has a fairly new product called "slip shorts". Will not give any support like Spanx, but very thin to make sure all of you stays covered and prevents chaffing. They are thin enough to not be too hot under something else. I know they carry them at Kohls.

:) I am a tad under 5'4" and weigh #220, so yes I am more obese. I am rather busty and carry my weight there and in my middle. I finally found the Issac Mizrahi T shirt dress on QVC. I wear them in a 2X and have one in every color. I like them because they hit just above the knee and have a short cap sleeve for just a little coverage. They are very comfortable and cool. I am kinda careful getting off rides, of course but don't believe I have ever had a "problem".

Like the PP said I have purchased the "skimmy" slip shorts and love them. I was worried about the rolling down and bunching but they don't unless I bend way over. I have a couple of nude ones and then dark gray and navy for those colored dresses. I usually feel the most breeze at Epcot for some reason. Shorts would just be too heavy.

No way could I wear a sundress, because I want my shoulders covered and the support of a t-shirt bra, but with the length and sleeves these IM dresses are awesome. For anyone my size there are some cute jean skorts on the Woman Within site that have a cotton undershort that are light and comfy, too.

So for my trip in 58 days (who's counting) I am wearing t-shirt dresses for sure most days.

My favorite thing to wear is dresses with the dry wick material and compression shorts underneath. So comfy, light and not warm at all! I especially love the Patagonia dress (it's like a running/workout dress) that I find fairly cheap off of 6pm.com

I say, wear what you're most comfortable in. I wear dresses and skirts almost everyday at home. Very comfortable for me. Last year I took shorts and skirts and was sorry I wore the shorts a couple of days because I was uncomfortable. I had cancer and had a gynecological surgery and I now wear boxer shorts under my dresses and skirts because I find them to be very comfortable, loose and not confining. I also have a few pairs of golf skirts, they have the shorts built right in. They are perfect.

I don't ever seem to have a chaffing issue, but I'm bringing body glide and powder just in case. Never know, I guess, best to be prepared.
