Sunday Paper, no Coupons?

I am so annoyed, sent my DH to pick up the paper for coupons and he brings it home on the paper has none. Why is that? Sunday paper is suppose to have the coupons and the ads.....

When I buy a Sunday paper, I always confirm the coupons are in it.

Our coupons and ads are wrapped, so at the store, I think they sometimes stack it separately. But in other places, I do check inside b/c it could have been missed or it could have been hit by sticky fingers. I'd take the paper back.

I know here you are only "guaranteed" to get the coupons if you get the paper delivered. If for some reason there aren't enough coupon packets one week, the home delivered papers get them first. So the papers in the stores don't always have them.

Or it could be some dishonest person that bought a paper before your DH did, grabbed the coupons out of the paper beneath the one they were buying, so they would get double coupons. I have heard of people doing this, but have never experienced it myself.

I get one paper delivered each Sunday, and if the coupons are great, might run to the store to buy another copy or two. I sometimes have to look through a few different papers at the store, before I find ones with all the coupon inserts it should have.

This is why I always try and pull my paper from the bottom of the stack, then spot check it for coupons

I was told that they won't be in the newspaper if it falls on a holiday or if it's the 5th Sunday in the month (wouldn't that be next Sunday)?

I always check myself but DH picked it up for me, since it is like 5 degrees outside today and we did not want to take our little one outside. He tried to do a good thing but did not turn out right...oh well he had good intentions.

If I send my DH to get the paper I have him check, once he came home with a $4.00 paper with no coupons. I had him go back to the store.

I received 2 inserts in mine. I would go back to the place your DH got the paper and ask for them.

I bought the paper today but, as always, had to check it for the coupons! Most of the time, the ones on top of the stack don't have coupons. You have to pull from the bottom and check to make sure your coupons are there. I got both Smart Source, and Red Plum today.

From someone who has worked for a few papers-the most likely reason for no coupons has already been mentioned, home delivery subscribers get priority if the coupon companies do not send enough to the paper for everyone.
Depending on the location, some unscrupulous store owners pull the coupons and "redeem" them to the manufacturers for cash.

In a few markets, Red Plum has moved to direct mail for their coupons-I personally think this will not work long term as the cost is high for both printing and distribution, and mailing coupons will not entice more people to use them.

I also verify coupons are included before buying the paper.

I know this won't help you with not getting the coupons, but here is a listing of all of the coupons that are scheduled to be in the newspapers for 2011. I only received the Smart Source ones today. HTH.

I only received Red Plum in the 2 papers I got. I smell a conspiracy

I feel confident in my answer as I was a store manager for MANY years.

Sunday papers come in two sections and need to be stuffed. Coupons/ads arrive the day prior, news comes and you put them together.

Problem....NO ONE takes/wants the top paper!! Why?? No idea however; because they keep taking from the middle, they pull out 1/2 a paper over and over.

I am only getting SS in my paper, the RP come in the mail on Wednesday. I don't really like it that way but it is what it is. They weren't great for me today, I only clipped 3.

My DH kept buying the newspaper at a local mini-mart and the coupons were always missing. I know they were missing because our Sunday paper always states something like...$285 in coupons inside.

I complained at the mini-mart and never got anywhere. However, I called my local newspaper, The Oregonian and every since then that mini-mart always seems to have the coupons in the paper. I think someone at the store was taking them out.

Now I always check to make sure the coupons are there before buying the paper. Sadly, I think lots of dishonest couponer's are taking them out of the papers.

It really ticks me off when my delivered paper is missing ads or coupons. You have to call pretty early to get a redelivery (even the next day) and half the time it never shows up. Very frustrating.

I cancelled my service for a while I got so mad about it, but they got a new machine to stuff the papers that was supposed to solve all their problems. It's better, but still only right about 80% of the time.
