sun cream

hi

i was wondering what factor sun cream you take?

we went in may 06 and took factor 40 for the kids and factor 8 for us, this tinm we are going in july.

so i was thinking of taking factor 40 or 50 for the kids and 10 or 20 for us or do you think we would be ok with what i took before?

We actually buy ours in Florida as we like Australian Gold, Publix sell it, high quality and smells really nice.

Maximum for kids , factor 40 or 50.

I tend to buy a mixture, as we do a bit of sunbathing tend to get some factor 8, and then probably a 25 or so for when we are at the parks.

The sun is very powerful indeed in Florida and being that much closer to the equator, to keep yourself safe really you should be wearing at least Factor 25....and that's for adults, children obviously need more protection.


You will still tan with this, but won't look like leather.

It really depends on how fair your skin is, which sun cream you use.
But I tend to use a complete sun block on my face and a 25 everywhere else !

we always buy our sun cream whereever we go. Even though its factor 40 here, its not the same as factor 40 there. We got told off by a doctor in ft lauderdale when our dd was 18 months old , i was made to feel like a really bad mom, and learnt my lesson well.
i would advise buying it there, and generally its a lot cheaper too. saves on packing too

We find it a lot easier to buy it out there.

We loved the Banana Boat ones last time which a spray on. We found it much easier to apply to the kids.

My parents took this cream (well it's actually a clear gel) with us on our previous trips and it was wonderful.

Totally absorbs into the skin, gives 10 hours protection (although I do re-apply on the more sensitive areas) and is waterproof.

It's not a cheap lotion though, my Mum believes that it's £30 a bottle in Boots at the moment

But, as I'm very fair skinned, I'd rather pay a little more knowing that I will not burn and will get a nice tan

We all always wear at least factor 30 in August, better to be safe than sorry as the sun really is strong!!!

We swear by Piz Buin 1 Day Long SPF30, one application lasts for about 8-10 hours and so its really convenient. It ends up working out as being pretty good value too.

I'll have to look into the pre-moisteriser too now you mentioned it was so good

We use P20 too! It's awesome! I have very fair skin (along with red hair!) and find it works wonders. I am protected all day and do not need to re-apply. We usually stock up at the airport - the last time I went on holiday it was 2 for £30 in duty free.

We use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF70 (US) with Helioplex.
This comes in cream and a spray can and can be used by children over the age of 6 months too.
