So I'm minding my own business upstairs and DD#2 goes down basement and comes back up. The TV doesn't work down there, she says--but I unplugged it last week. A few minutes later she says "mom, when I walked across the basement the carpet squished under my feet"!!!!!!
Sure enough, sometime today our sump went out--we can get it chugging a little but DH just went to buy a new one. The house is 10 years old so we figure it's original.
The Lord smiled on me though--last week we had a storm coming, and last time we lost power our carpet got all wet--so last week I put everything that was on the floor up on either the shelves or a table or the sofa, including two VCRs and a stereo receiver, and put the treadmill up on brick pavers (down there from the last time), and unplugged everything!! So nothing major is lost. I think this time we have lost our carpeting
, but everything else was up on chairs, including my fans. At the worst case we've lost our sofa as well.
A business friend of DH is coming to get the water out of the carpet as we speak. But flooded basements SUCK!!!!!
