Summer's Planning Journal 08/20 Update 08/10/07

Summer, the gown is WOW on you!
I agree with all the above. you could have cups sewn in and the tailoring will take care of the loose material on the sides and also make the halter fit more snugly.. if you have the opportunity to go braless, I'd say you'll be much more comfortable - or you could have bra strap tabs sewn in ( the strap slids under the tan) so the straps don't show..

simply stunning Summer!!

just catching up.

Dont worry about missing out on DC so not worth the money like other posts have suggested you get '30 mins' with the dolphins if I remember right this includes your pre dolphin swim chat and then you share your time with like 10 other people so you get about 5 mins if that in total with a dolphin enough for photos which they will try to force you to buy.

Dress is Gorgeous.

So glad your dog is well.

and la senza (and M and S - I think) sell straps to lower the back strap on your bra and your alterations will fix any probs otherwise. I would see if they could put built in cups in though if they/you have time - save worrying about bra altogether. oh and congrats on weight loss if I have not said so already and I so wish I was a 36dd save me worrying about what type of dress to get never mind bra.

I just got measured to day and I am a 36 DD but I think the top makes me look like I'm a B cup. I was thinking of going without a bra, I can't seem to find a bra that would work also I wondered if maybe getting chicken fillets might be the way to go:rotfl: I never, ever thought I would need them but I think the top makes me look quite flat. I need your opinions please:flower3:

Summer,

I have to say this part of your post made me laugh (in a good way) I am actually a DDD girl and I don't think they even make chicken cutlets big enough to work for me. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

To go without a bra, you would have to be very comfortable without it. You will tend to be more self conscious of the fit and the fact that you are not wearing one. I agree with some of the girls when they suggested having cups sewn in the dress, may be a good solution. I know you are short on time at home so you need something pretty quickly.

It will all work out. You are going to be a gorgeous bride! you're a gorgeous girl when you're just your everyday self, much less when you have the glow of a bride! :grouphug:

PS. Nice tat on your shoulder!

I got a bra from La Senza a few years ago that my niece calls my "sticky b**bs" as it attaches with sticky from the front, I think someone else on here mentionned one - a Nu Bra I think. In any case, this withstands dancing and everything - I used to wear it under those handkerchief tops to go clubbing in. It's severely underwired for a great lift - and was only £10 - I think they still sell them, near the cash register. :)

Summer - you look gorgeous in your dress!! I think having the chickens lol sown into your dress sounds like a good idea. I'm hoping to go bra less as that's one less thing to worry about lol Can't wait to see your wedding pics. Kxx

Summer!

Sorry I haven't been around. It was the long weekend here in Canada and then last Thursday I went to visit my aunt.

First of all -- YOU LOOK GORGEOUS in that dress! OMG, I love it!!

I also think that you made the right decision about DC. I know how much you wanted to do it, but I know you have so many awesome experiences lined up that when you're there I know you won't think twice about it. I was the same way with having Mickey and Minnie at our wedding....and in the end...I didn't even notice they weren't there.

I'm not 100% sure what to recommend about the bra situation. I used the structure built into my dress. But I know there is a past thread about the different options. I just for the life of me, can't figure out where it is...

Summer, you look breathtaking in your dress!! You could be a model, you have such gorgeous features!! :cloud9:

As far as a bra goes, I have something called a long-line bra. Its strapless and almost corset-like (it holds in your belly, too!) but it hooks very deep in the back so you can wear open/low back dresses. You could see if something like that is available around the area.

Thank you so much for the compliment, WOW, I don't really know what else to say about that, but it certainly made me smile and likely will do for the rest of the day:)

Summer, I haven't posted in awhile on your TR but have been keeping track.

Your dress is gorgeous and you are a stunning bride!!! :bride: DF will be speechless when he sees you! Going with this dress instead of the first one was the right decision! The tiara goes perfectly with the dress and I love the addition of the sash! It's perfect! :thumbsup2

I know making the decision to cancel DC was very difficult, but I think it was the right decision. Sometimes you have to look at the money aspect and decide if you can afford it or not. With everything else you have planned, this won't be missed as much as you may think it will. You will have a blast on your honeymoon!!!

I don't have any suggestions as far as a bra goes, but I do know that your seamstress should be able to fix the top without much trouble. I had a similar problem, except I'm completely flat up top :rotfl: The sides and everything jutted out just like on your dress, and they were able to make it fit perfectly (and give the illusion that I have a bit up there!)

Don't worry, you're going to look gorgeous :bride:

Summer, I just caught up. The dress looks absolutely stunning on you. Your tiara is beautiful too. So happy Morgan is feeling better. I agree with your decision to cancal DC. Seems like you wouldn't have much time with the dolphins anyway. Can't wait to see more pictures especially the big day. We leave for vacation on Saturday so I won't be around until the following Saturday and I think that's when you're leaving. So have a wonderful trip, a happy wedding and wonderful trip. Can't wait until you come back for your TR.

Okay I have a major dilemma with my dress. As you can see I posted pictures of me in the dress. I went to the dressmaker this afternoon and she said that the skirt had been made wrong and it will look nothing like the picture when finished. I had asked her to make the gathers as shown:

1059.jpg

This is my dress:confused:

Yet here it is on me:
Untitled-6.jpg

There are no gathers at all on the front and it can be made that way either as I only have a 2inch hem. The dressmaker said that it had been made wrong as it should have arrived like that but as you can see it didn't.

I don't know what to do, I only purchased this dress because I love gathered skirts, now I don't even have that. I love the back of the skirt but I think the front is really plain. If I wanted a plain skirt I would have ordered one:mad:
I left the bridal salon feeling a bit down but the woman assured me that once altered it would look like that. Today I am so upset, my skirt is going to stay completely straight and it's not as if I have time to go and buy another dress as I leave in 8 days.

I called the Sales mangager for the maker of the dress and he told me to contact the owner of the store tomorrow and he will se about getting a replacement skirt for me. Tomorrow he will only have 1 week to get it and have it altered, there is no way it will get here in enough time, nor is there any guarantee it will look as it should.

HELP, what do I do? Do I take tomorrow off work and try and find another dress and demand a refund for this one?

OK...if you go with a smaller crinoline underneath, will that give you more room to make the gathers? I would think that should afford you some room you need to make, at least, some gathers.

Or, can you get some type of amount off since it wasn't what you ordered? Doesn't hurt to ask the manager of the bridal shop.

Summer-

Ok, (THIS IS WRONG!)

You get your refund or a new skirt. YOu have to tell them "This is not the skirt that I paid for and its definitely not the skirt that I want. How soon can you send me a replacement skirt" (Make sure that they don't make you pay for it -its their mistake!)

If they can't send you a replacement then get your refund- but you should do that ASAP! don't waste anytime and don't be cutesy with them. Don't worry about being a bridezilla- YOU DON"T MESS WITH A BRIDES DRESS...BIG NONO!

let us know how it goes!!!!

I second Abby - 1000% !!!!!!

Oh Summer, I can't believe this! If this is not the skirt you paid for and wanted, then they need to send you the correct one ASAP. Looks like everyone is having last minute wedding drama :headache:

You poor thing. Of all the things to be worried about right now. I agree with the others. Make sure you let them know that anything other than replacement of the skirt, tomorrow, is unacceptable. You have to have time for alterations, if needed. They made the mistake, they need to fix it.:goodvibes :tinker:

I completely agree - you either get the refund or you get a new skirt. The bridal store would have known as soon as they saw it that this was not the skirt you had ordered. Make sure no-one "passes the buck" and claims it's not their problem - it IS their problem, make sure you make that clear to them. Let me know if you need any help :)

Two points -

you look absolutely gorgeous

it's not what you paid for/chose

So, even though you look great as is, they should refund you the money or add a new skirt (although I don't know if I trust them to do this in 8 days).

Lots of luck!!

When do you get to WDW? I will be there until the 19, so we might cross paths! :)
