Summer Weekend Availability for DVC Cash Rate Discount

Is it hard to get a WDW DVC room at the discounted DVC cash rate for the summer weekends (June/July/August)?

I would rather save my points and pay cash on the weekend. Not sure when to book. Does the AP discount become available before the DVC discount?

I just booked a cash night with the member discount at BCV for the 4th of July weekend for Saturday. I think the rate was $250 and some odd cents for the studio. I used points for Sunday and Monday. They linked the reservations together.

There's a thread on the Resorts board that's talking about AP rates not including the weekend. I'd go ahead and try to get a member discount for the weekend just in case the APs or resorts codes don't pan out if I were you.

Usually AP rates come out later than our member discount rates. Last year I was able to book a cash night at Hilton Head with the discount at the 7 month window. They don't always have the member discounts, though.

I got cash for june 3-5 at bcv I think it was 248 for a studio.

I was told a DVC discount rate wasn't available for our BCV trip in June 2005. I will be paying cash for Friday night. I'm glad I have APs now because hopefully, I can get a discount with that before our trip! Annmarie

The current AP rate that is out for March and April says it's good only for Sun - Thurs checkins, but I was given the AP rate at AKL for a Friday + Saturday stay prior to checking into OKW. That's the first time I've ever seen an AP rate restricted to certain days of the week.

I would just suggest booking the DVC cash rate for a room on the weekend if the cost of the room is less than $10/point. If the cash rate is greater than $10/point, go to the rental board and rent the points for the weekend. $10/point seems to be the going rate there or you could wait for the AP rates to come out, see if they make sense $$ wise and book them if they do (cancelling the DVC cash ressie).

I booked at studio at BCV for a Friday and Saturday in late July for $221.00 plus tax per night.

Look at you! Using my spreadsheet already. Nothing like a spreadsheet to put a dollar value on something you suspected anyway.

As for when DVC discounts become available, we nabbed DVC discounted weekend nights at BWV during Food & Wine at the 9.5 month mark; MS seemed surprised to see it so early. From that I would guess that these open up more like 6-8 months ahead of time, maybe closer to the date, if they are not getting the kind of volumes they wanted. MS says that the DVC discounted rooms are released at any time, so perhaps no rhyme or reason to it.

My stretegy is to just call a couple of times a month (slow afternoon times work well for me, or at times when I'm calling anyway), and ask about weekend DVC discount availability for the targeted weekend nights. Right now I have some expensive 2BR BW view nights during F&W in my sights, and they have not yet come out, but I'll be ready if and when they do come out.
