Summer Vacations

Our holiday this year was in the south west of France, based on a campsite at Serignan Plage. Out chalet was http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v...dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1

So to get there, we flew to Toulouse Airport, and drove from there to the site. We rented a Ford Mondeo Estate (station wagon) and I was quite impressed - it's the first Ford I've seen for many years that I would consider buying.

The holiday was really warm - around 31C (87F) and it took a good few days for the kids to aclimatise. By the end of the first week we were wondering if it had been a good idea, but by the time we got to the end of the second week they didn't want to go home!

The strength of the Euro was very noticeable. Prices seemed high to me when compared to Sterling. I don't think I heard any American voices, though - it must seem hideously expensive when converted to US$.

It was very much a family holiday, and I didn't get a lot of time for Photography. I am still working through the photographs that I did take. I did, however, find that my 18-200mm Sigma OS lens did an excellent job on holiday, and I think I'd now be comfortable taking it as my only lens for hliday photos.

These two, of Beziers, have already been posted:

Another great little toy was a £39 waterproof Vivitar camera that did a remarkably fine job. Here are a couple of videos taken with it (I'm not going to try to post the Shockwave object, I can't imagine that working!):
