Cast:

Me (21 + lot more)
DH (21 + lot more)
DD - Charys (7)
Gladys – Invaluable Sat Nav to keep us on the right track

After a busy and exciting morning we had a wonderful late lunch at Annette’s- will post fuller report on Annette’s thread – before heading for Holiday Inn. We had been given a voucher when we got our annual passes which entitled us to eat at a variety of restaurants in the Village and get 20% off. When you eat in any restaurant in the Village you can also get 2hr free parking in the Village car park (you need to get a ticket from the restaurant) so even though we had parked there for more than 2 hrs we got 2 hrs knocked off the price.
We headed over to Holiday Inn. It was the first time we had stayed there and were keen to see how it compared with Explorers to help us decide where to stay next Easter. We explained at reception that we had a reservation for Monday and Tuesday but had phoned from City Hall to make another booking for tonight and tomorrow and wondered if it would be possible to keep the same room. That’s when the problems started. At first the receptionist couldn’t find our booking. We started to panic thinking had we been booked in at another Holiday Inn somewhere. Eventually she found the booking but said we couldn’t keep the same room for Mon and Tues as we only had a double room booked then and not a triple. We corrected her and showed her confirmation that we had a triple room booked as there were 3 of us. She apologised and changed the booking for us and said we would be able to stay in the same room but would need to check out on Monday am and then check back in again as the system wouldn’t let her do the 2 bookings together now. This seemed as though it was going to be a hassle but we accepted it for now and decided we would try and sort it before Mon am.
We found our room and were really impressed (much better than the tent we should have been staying in!!! Confused? You need to read part 2a) It had a double bed and single bed which had a curtain you could pull round it to keep it separate. This children’s den also had its own TV so DD thought it wonderful. We put the kettle on for a cuppa and chilled for a while- DD watching Cartoons on TV, me dozing and DH exploring round the hotel.
Refreshed we decided to go back into the park for a while. Instead of getting the shuttle bus we drove back and parked the car in New York car park as we had our dream passes to be able to do this. It was nice seeing inside the hotel as the only Dis hotel we’d been in was Santa Fe. We wandered through the Village towards the park.

We noticed the street through the Village roped off so asked what was happening and the Buffalo Bill Parade was about to start so we stopped to watch that and relived our evening there at Easter.

We re-entered the park and decided to get on the train at Mainstreet Station. It was busy but the wait didn’t seem too long. Probably about 20 minutes. It turned out to be the longest we queued anywhere all trip as we got really good at avoiding the queues. We did a complete circuit of the park and could see everyone starting to line the streets ready for the Once upon a dream parade. As we passed through Fantasyland the parade was lined up behind the gate ready to start and lots of characters waved at the train. We decided it would be a good time to do some rides but instead of getting off at Mainstreet stayed on the train for longer to get off when it reached Fantasyland again. We did Pays des Contes de Fees (The story book ride),

Casey Express, Pays des Contes de Fees again and then did Alice’s Maze.

We couldnt go without riding our 2 favourite rides: Small World and then headed over to Adventure land for POTC which we rode twice.
Not sure if we did any more rides but don’t think so as we were feeling really tired by now as we’d been up since 6.30ish. We decided to head back towards Main Street and get a sandwich in Market St Deli but it was very busy. We could see DD was flagging so decided to just go back to the hotel and grab some sandwiches from the station on route. We did this and also bought some milk which we kept cool in the ice bucket (worked well).
Enjoyed our makeshift picnic and reflected on everything we’d done that day. Absolutely loads considering the plan was to be only in the parks for about an hour!!!

We had decided to still head into Paris for the day tomorrow but not to be up at the crack of dawn just see what time we woke up and take it from there.

Part 3 coming soon- More hotel confusion, Paris, rain, bicycles and the best hot chocolate in the World.pooh:

Fab reports - I've read them all up to now!!!

Keep them coming!

Elaine
