summer time

Some people can only visit in the summer. You learn to make the best of it. ;)Longer park hours let you take mid-day breaks - at a pool or in the a/c napping. Hit the parks again in the evening.

Dress in light colors and wear comfortable shoes. Wear a hat and sunglasses....glare is everywhere! Drink water or fruit juice and avoid soda which can dehydrate you. Adult beverages? That's your call...:)

We eat lightly, avoiding heavy meals. Stick with sandwiches, salads, fruit and yogurts. Ice cream too! :goodvibes

Pace yourself and take breaks when needed. Spend a day at a water park or an afternoon shopping, golfing or just loafing. If you are in the park and feel overwhelmed or over-heated, find a cool air-conditioned show like The Hall of Presidents or Country Bear Jamboree.

It's possible to have a great time in the summer despite the heat. Don't over-do it and you'll be fine!

Sunscreen, refillable water bottle (I love my brita filtered bottle) are necessities. I always bring a battery operated fan and a frogg toggs cooling towel.

I live in Central West FL and I must admit, I avoid WDW then. It is hot so expect it. Depending on where you are coming from, it can be quite uncomfortable.
I am originally from the NE and they had a much hotter summer last year than FL did so if you are use to hot, humid summers, it pretty much is just that here in CF.

My best advise is go early, leave mid day and go back in the evening. It's the best way to survive. If I do go in the heat, I try to revolve the things I do so they include an indoor thing.
Do a couple of rides and then go sit inside some where or go into a shop or two for a good 15 min to cool down.

Drink more than you think you should. FL heat sneaks up on you and you can be in trouble fast. If you normally drink one bottle of water every 2 hours or so, drink 2 or three in FL. Yes it's more potty breaks but worth it.

Great advice listed above. I would add that if you can find moisture-wicking clothes, buy them! They're a lifesaver. Target carries Champion brand in their athletic wear department; they have both shorts and tops. Sporting goods stores also carry them, as do stores like REI.

I found a great moisture-wicking pair of shorts - they're Columbia brand:

These are a great above-the-knee length, and so lightweight and comfortable. You can even hand-wash them in the sink at night and they're dry by morning!

I moved from Mi to Fla last yr and did Dis last summer! Yes it was hot but I did it and I am a pooh sized gal so anyone can do it!! we got to park at open stayed untill lunch went back to resort for lunch by pool then to room for a hr nap/quiet time then back at park for dinner and night! we did this for 2 days then took day off to sleep in and swim/relax then did last 2 days same way!! we are now gonna be AP and plan again to go! we did drink a ton of water and alwasy had a wet washcloth to wipe face with we wear light colors and wicking/ specialized outdoor shirts from columbia with mesh vents! we have hats with the mesh for breathing and a wide brim! sunscreen and we stopped alot inside AC activies, rides etc!! WE TRIED TO PLAN all inside ac shows in hotter time of day and rides that stand outside like Thunder, dumbo, etc in early am or evening!! we also brought trial sized baby powder, deo, to parks to help freshen up and it really helped me feel human!! Bring water flavor packs as the water here is a bit salty to taste! all resturants will give you ice water just ask!! no purchsae necessary! and the resorts drink stations also have water to refill bottles with and there is lemon there as well!!

I found that Epcot future and DHS are the best on the hot part of day as most of everything is inside you just hop from building to building!! save the nations side for evening! very pretty then too and Animal kingom for a early morning hr! also MK is great for both a early am and late night! again during hot time hit stich, laugh hr, buzz, space mountain save fantasyland, speedway and splash and thunder for early or late afternoon!!

You will have a blast~pixiedust:
