Summer on the Savannah Party at IG

Does anyone know anymore information at the Summer on the Savannah Party at IG? It was included in a post that I read awhile back. The information that I read said that the party is for DVC members and will be held at the IG on Thursdays in August. Anyone know of a time or anymore details?

I think it starts the week of July 12 because I remember we will be there during our visit in July. If it is anything like the "Merry Member Mixer" at XMas, it is held for a few hours each Thursday afternoon at IG and they had a DJ, Cookies & punch, and a small DVC shopping area with T-shirts and other items. And of course DVC sales guys offering more points!

If it's like the Christmas event and you want to buy anything ARRIVE early and plan to spend most of the event in line to spend money... (otherwise the event was fun, but that line.... I bought nothing. I don't stand in line to give folks money!)

Are you actually going to AKV or what? I'm a new member and very confused. Is this worth going to? I don't want to drag the 4 kids if it's not worth it.

This party is held ot the "grassy knoll" at the International Gateway to Epcot. They put up a big tent and it is even air conditioned!
It isn't held at AKV, but going by the name it will have a AKV theme in order to be in line with the current sales initative.
If your kids like to dance and see characters (I just remembered characters were there) I would schedule an Epcot visit for the Thursday afternoon of your vacation.

We are planning on doing MGM that day. We have an 11:00 ADR at Sci-Fi...What time is Summer on the Savannah and what is the easiest way to get to Intern. Gateway from there?

I don't stand in line to give folks money!

where I live you don't only stand in line for a long time when you get to the front most of the person is just nasty... Ham and Swiss 9.99 whata ya wana drink nothing whan a can of soda is 1.79 don't forget tax....
Mind you the soda is on the other side if I wnated one do yo not think I would holding one aftre waiting 10 minutes to pay for this much less how long it took to have somone take my order and prepare it......
and this is food I will not go into buying other items

You must be new!

Jump on the boat from MGM and ride it all the way through the hotel stops and it will drop you off at IG right where the party is held.

I think the party is from 5:00 -7:00 pm

Does anyone know the specifics. We are staying at BWV from 7/15-7/19. I would love to check it out. We just bought in October (with the $15/off member referral...sweet). This will be first stay using our points.

Summer on the Savanna, an exclusive (and complimentary) Member event, will take place on Thursday afternoons: July 12-Aug 23 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the courtyard just outside of the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. "Guests will mingle with their Disney neighbors while enjoying a sensory journey through the African plains, complete with music, interactive entertainment and light refreshments."
