Summer of Heroes - Starts May 27

I was... tentatively planning a long weekend trip for Memorial Day weekend, and this announcement has filled me with both joy and dread at the idea.

Joy because I'm a huge Marvel fan and I was hoping the ride would be open in time for my trip. A bonus event is even better.

Dread because I was already cagey about the Memorial Day weekend crowds... and this grand opening being smack the same weekend will surely just exacerbate the issue.

Thankfully I haven't booked anything yet, so I could still move to a different weekend if I choose to. But losing the holiday will cut my trip down from 4 1/2 days to 3 1/2 days. As I posted in another thread I created this morning, I can't decide if I'd be better off with an extra day on a crowded long memorial weekend, or one day shorter on a less eventy weekend in like... June (but that's also Summer, so... who knows).

Me too. We are booked to go in October but this is making me seriously consider moving our trip up.

Apparently I've begrudgingly come around to GOG taking over the Tower because I'm actually bummed I won't be there for all this this summer!

In order to get to the Summer of Heroes, we have to go through the Winter/Spring of Villains. Villains, of course, meaning they've broken down a giant chunk of the park.

I'm so excited by this news that I'm considering a trip this summer just to meet the Guardians.

I'm trying to decipher Disney-speak. "citizens of Earth will come face-to-face with Groot, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy! You can also step up to meet the First Avenger, Captain America, along with everyone’s favorite web slinger, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man."

You get to "meet" Captain America and Spider-Man. But you come "face-to-face" with Groot. Could that mean that Groot isn't doing a traditional meet-and-greet? I know it's too early to know for sure. Just curious.

Hmmm... maybe Groot will take over something in the Animation Building and we'll get 'Tree Talk With Groot'?
