Summer of 2022

Wild4Walt, what is a "cavalcade," and how does it differ from a parade?

The cavalcade is an extremely short parade / ride through of one car or float, perhaps a few characters walking. Very quick. The idea was that they weren’t scheduled, so no crowd gathering, shoulder to shoulder, waiting together before or through it.

From comments over the years about cost-cutting under each new CEO, I think the biggest change will be in the FP system.

Sounds like Universal has an add-on option to get various levels of front of the line access. Maybe DL Shanghai or Tokyo has some pay for FP system?

That would be the biggest change from pre-COVID.

And then there are the crowds! I went last January after many years away and was amazed at So many people (found out later it was Princess Marathon weekend). I have been September and November 2020 and loved the decrease in attendance - but I think the crowds will be back bigger than before.

Our last trip was in 2018 and we were planning from then to go back in 2022. We're coming from the UK, so international travel is also a factor in our trips.

I've been saying since last summer that I'm not convinced things will be back to anything approaching normal by 2022.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just have no confidence that we'll make it to FL in '22. Actually, with an administration that may take COVID seriously, I'll upgrade that from no confidence to very little confidence.

DLR has a paid FP system - MaxPass. It's fantastic, so much better than FP+. I would love if WDW adopted something similar, even if it did have an up charge. You can make FPs all day on your phone, but you don't make them until you're in the parks, so there's no obsessive pre-planning and scheduling out rides 2 months in advance. It really gets you on a lot more rides with a lot less lines.

I have heard analysts talking about 2022 being a rebound year for attendance. I am thinking we will be on the back side of Rona by the end of summer. Numbers are already starting to slack off in certain areas. CDC even came out and said schools are not a significant cause of spread.

I could get into something like that. Most of my days using FP were when you had to go to each specific ride to get a hard ticket. And only one FP per person at a time. I think I did one day with the pre-planned 3 FP in one park system - but I was park hopping and really wanted to plan for both.

Thanks for the info.
