I AM LOOKING FORWARD ON GOING ON THE MAGIAC NEXT SUMMER
I WAS READING ALL THE NEWS OF IT LEAVING OUT OF THE WEST COAST
I WILL BE SO SAD
HOW TRUE CAN THIS BE
ALSO IF WE CHOOSE TO DO SEPT WESTERN IS THAT A GOOD TIME TO GO

Juliette--

Nothing is official from Disney Cruise Line as of right now. Just as the rumors of a new ship (or ships) abound, so too do rumors of repositioning the Magic or Wonder.

If I had to guess, and it's just a guess, the Magic and Wonder won't be going anywhere soon. But, that's just my take on things.

We went on the Wonder last September and we really enjoyed it. The ship was not full and the weather was great. The rates are also lower than going in the summer. We just booked a 7 night Western for September 2005. Good luck with your decision.

The Wonder's schedule has been announced for all of 2005, so the Wonder is not an issue.

The Magic's schedule has been announced for all of 2005 -- except for summer. Returning Disney Magic passengers have reported that the captain is promising new itineraries with new ports. The big question is whether this means new ports such as Costa Maya and Belize -- or if it means new ports in Baja California.

Disneyland is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2005, and there have been rumors from various sources that the Disney Magic will be part of the event.

Some folks on this board have reported hearing about cruises out of Long Beach straight from the captain or from a radio station in New England which is said to be running a contest. Perhaps they heard correctly. Perhaps they misunderstood.

So, it's just a rumor for now. I doubt the folks who work for DCL even know the real story about summer 2005, except on a "need to know" basis. Still, if I were a bettin' man, I'd bet on California.

Andy "verandahman" calls it the Disney "Speculation"!!

And sorry, but I'm one of the happy ones to go somewhere besides the Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries!

I talked to a CM at the Castaway Club yesterday who said he would be very surprised if the Magic was sent to California for the summer. Just thought I would pass it along. Of course, I don't think they CM's know anything more than we do. I think he was just speculating.

MAYBE I SOULD PUT MY DEPOSIT DOWN FOR SEPT AND IF WE LIKE THE NEW ITIN THEN WE COULD CHANGE

IS THERE A PENLTY IF I CHOOSE TO DO THAT

I JUST CANT SEE MY SELF NOT GOING TO CASTAWAY
IF THIS HAPPENS WITH A NEW ITIN WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ITS GOING TO LOOK LIKE

I CANT NOT GO ON THE CRUISE ITS BEEN TO LONG 2001

I would think that if the ship stays in the Caribbean, it will call at Castaway Cay. If it's sailing out of LA, then that's obviously out of the question.

The Magic is changing ports this fall, swapping St. Maarten for Antigua or San Juan on a few cruises, but still calling at Castaway Cay.

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised to see the ship out here. They don't seem to have any problems filling it when sailing out of Port Canaveral, but it may be a pre-cursor to expanding the fleet and permanantly positioning a ship on the west coast.

My TA forwarded this to me...

Disney Magic To West Coast?
Agents calling in to reserve group space for the Disney Magic
next summer are being told space is not being made available
due to an itinerary change. However, they're told group space is
available for spring or fall.

That response prompted speculation that Disney will relocate the
ship to Southern California next summer to tie in with the 50th
anniversary of Disneyland in Anaheim.

But Disney Cruise Line says don't jump to any conclusions. "We
are making plans for going somewhere different in summer
2005," says spokesperson Mark Jaronski. "We're looking at the
pros and cons of staying in the Caribbean as opposed to going
somewhere else."

He notes Disney has put a lot of money into its own terminal and
its own private island (Castaway Cay); hence, pulling the ship
from the Caribbean will not be an easy decision

I wish they'd just announce their plans and be done with it. I'm fine with whatever they do, but I would like to make my plans..

Yes, all of us who have chimed in on this subject are treating this as a rumor. The word "rumor" doesn't mean that something is false, just that people are repeating unsubstantiated information that may or may not eventually turn out to be true.

There are some key people at DCL who know exactly what will happen with the Disney Magic in summer 2005 (unless they really haven't made the decision yet, which is unlikely). And those key people aren't talking.

However, at this point, the vast majority of DCL employees are unlikely to know any more than we do -- especially DCL employees who answer phones in a call center or who serve food on the ships. The only difference is that it's likely that DCL employees have been instructed to discourage the spread of any rumors to the public.

Alas, you don't have any choice but to wait until DCL is ready to announce their plans. That might not happen until the Disneyland press event that is supposedly going to happen in May. Or it could happen sooner, especially if the news turns out to be that the Magic is simply going to different Caribbean ports.
