I'm already sick of the "can I" from the kids! Can I go to the movies? Can I go to the park? Can I have so and so spend the night? Can I go on the computer? Can so and so come in? Can I go swim?

I wanna pull my hair out already! I miss the days of just going out to play-which would entertain for hours!

I'm with ya 100%...
Today I heard....Can we go swimming today? (there is no pool around us).. No, not today, we'll figure something out soon...
Then "Gawd, I have gotten to do anything ALLL summer!"
Um... It's been 1 week and 1 day and they've been to the lake, a grill out, the Renassaince Festival and in the waterhose with the neighbors....

Oh I feel your pain! My 10yr old is going to drive me nuts! "Mom, what are we doing today?? Where are we going?? I'm bored, let's go somewhere." Then my 3 1/2 year old joins in. Then they start fighting over everything and nothing.

My mom and grandmother both have pools, but we live about 20-25 mins away from them both. I'm not spending the $$ to drive over there all the time. The beach is about 35 mins away but we won't be doing that until my stepmom and sisters are out of school for the year and even then only 1 day a week. The fun park is about 15 mins away too.

My 10 yr old is so anti-social in that he never wants to have a friend over, I can literally count on 1 hand the times he has had a friend over. He loves going to my dad's house and hanging out with my sisters (they are 12 and 11) but as far as actual friends, nope. He's weird. LOL

He had only been out of school since Friday andn I'm already losing my mind. It's going to be a LONG summer. I've already let him know that I am not his maid/slave/entertainment committee. I have things I need to do and they don't involve making sure he's not bored. LOL

I still have 3 weeks before all organization and peace go out the window:upsidedow

We keep a big sheet of paper on the wall in our home office. Instead of a "to do" list for the summer we keep a " to done" list of things we've accomplished. I think we feel more productive seeing all we accomplished instead of all we hope to do. Previous lists have included things like, places visited (with a photo attached), friends hung with, books read, learned to knit, wrote a poem, got stitches, make homemade ice cream, saw a movie and so on.... If the kids think it's an accomplishment or something out of the ordinary, or something just plain fun, it goes on the list. There's a few more days of school left here, but I've already got the big sheet of paper hung up with "Summer of 2010" written on the top.

That's a cute idea!

DS15 and dd13 have both been told, that seeing as dad will be home with you all summer, there will be ZERO phone calls asking me for permission to do whaterever, eat whatever, go over to where ever. He's there, he can handle the numerous questions those two come up with.

And lord help the child that complains they have nothing to do - they will be weeding, washing windows, power washing the siding, cleaning out the shed, farmed out to grandparents and the aunt/uncles that need help with stuff around their house/yard done. DH has a long list of things to do.

But DS will be kept pretty busy once marching band starts up, so he is pretty well taken care of. It's the social butterfly that is going to drive him battie with wanting to go do something.

I'm diggin' all the extra kids around here and I don't mind the additional time with my son at all. He's asked for lots of rides places and I take him.
