We had decided to have a bit of a lie in today.

We had originally booked GMF breakfast for 9.45 again but had decided yesterday to change this to a late breakfast in Sequoia Lodge. DH had managed to get a 9.30 slot. After being woken by Goofy we went down to enjoy our first breakfast in the hotel. Compared to the chaotic breakfasts in Santa Fe, Cheyenne and Explorers we thought this was a very well organised breakfast. We were shown to a table instead of having to fight to find one. We collected a selection of things and DH went to collect the drinks. DD had been drinking apple juice most mornings but DH came back to say there was no apple juice but there was orange, grapefruit or banana juice – banana????
Later on I went to collect another drink and returned to inform DH that the French word ananas means pineapple not banana. Needless to say for the rest of the trip we started calling pineapple juice banana juice – one of those things which will stick for years I think.
Anyhow after a lovely breakfast we wandered to see which characters were in the hotel that day and found it was Winnie the Pooh again.

Photos were taken and we then decided to have a swim. We collected our things and went to the pool. At first only the indoor part was open but after a while they opened the outdoor section so we were able to swim between the 2. We really enjoyed having the pool and thought it was well themed but not as nice or big as DCR.

After a lazy start we decided to head towards the park as we had a 2.00 reservation for Silver Spur. We walked there slowly through the Village browsing in shops and when we reached the park looked in more shops on Main Street as well.

We then had a wander round the fort area of Frontierland before making our way to Silver Spur.
We had never eaten here before but had decided we wanted to try different restaurants this holiday and liked the look of the menu.
As we had half board plus vouchers I had the set menu which is recommended for half board plus- Beef Carpaccio, Steak with BBQ sauce and fries and a chocolate and nut cake. DH opted for the more expensive menu and chose prawn cocktail, a larger steak with BBQ sauce and fries and crème brulee. DD had the childrens menu and they were happy for her to swap courses around. She ended up with carrot sticks, Mickey Cordon Bleu with fries and green beans and Chocolate pudding. I’ll post photos on the restaurant thread. We really enjoyed it and would eat here again.
Feeling very full we decided to wander over to the studios. Im not that keen on the studios and prefer to spend most of my time in the main Disneyland park however we wanted to ride Cars, see the HSM show and DD wanted to see animagique again. It was a really really hot day and I don’t cope very well with the heat so we didn’t really want to spend too long there. We checked out Animagique first as a show was due to start but I had misread the event schedule and it didn’t start for another 40 minutes so we decided to queue for Cars– I know it’s a tame ride but I love the film and the props in the queue area. There was a longish queue but it wasn’t too bad. Its obviously very slow loading the cars and waiting for people to take photos with Lightening McQueen before exiting. Eventually we were off – I love the way the cars spin and make you feel as though you are going to bump into another one. We then went into Animagique and found a seat- it was as good as ever and nice and cool in there.

We wanted to try and find a good place to watch HSM2 – those of you who have read my trippie from last summer may remember the bad experience we had of the show last year (which did result in us being made stars of the day and getting to ride with Mickey in the parade so it turned out not all bad!!). We had remembered that the best place to watch would have been in front of the truck between Armageddon and Stunt show. We had thought this place would have been taken and were surprised when we got there that there was no one else there especially as it was in the shade. We sat down and waited for a while. We then saw 2 CMs so decided to go and ask if that was the best place to sit and to check the show would stop there. It was a good job I asked as they said that due to the heat it was only stopping once outside Cinemagique. We quickly moved back to that area and found the stars on the road which indicated the area to sit. We were initially all at the front but DH and I moved back a bit to let some other children sit at the front. DD loved it- she is a huge fan of HSM. She didn’t get chosen to go out but wasn’t too bothered as at least she could see this year. It was too hot for me to stand where we were as we were in the full sun so I moved back into the shade and left her to enjoy it.

After this we had had enough of the heat and decided to go back to the hotel. I would have liked to have done TOT again but DD wasn’t too sure – she liked it at Easter but kept saying she didn’t want to do it again. I think we’d have been able to persuade her and she’d have been fine normally but with her not being well earlier in the week we didn’t want to push her.
We flopped in the room and dozed, read, watched TV and had a cup of tea.
Once the sun had died down a bit we caught the bus back into the park again with the aim of doing a few rides including BTM in the dark again. First we stopped off at Caseys for hot dogs. We sat in the entrance to the arcade and watched the world go by whilst we ate them. We then wandered over to ride Small world and Casey Junior and had a wander round the park. Then over to ride POC which we did twice and then to BTM which again we rode twice.
We decided not to stay for Fantillusion and fireworks but instead to go back to the hotel as we were really tired. We stopped off at Annettes to get a takeaway vanilla milkshake as I really like them. We drank this walking back round the lake. When we got back to the hotel we went to the bar for a cocktail and DD had an apple juice.
We then fell into bed exhausted. It had been very very hot today and it had really taken it out of me and we knew we had a busy day tomorrow as we wanted to be up early tomorrow for EMH and stay late for the fireworks.

Coming soon: Wedding Anniversary, Inventions, loads of characters and lots and lots of fun (and cocktails)

Ive just been trying to do it for you Bob but the programme is playing up - it all disappered once then when I did it again it posted pictures in strange places with some writing missing. I'll try again tomorrow.

Sounds like you had an enjoyable day, even if the heat was bad.

You saying about the fruit juice, I had a problem a few years ago at the bar where Mum wanted Grapefruit juice and lemonade - the problem was that I didn't know what grapefruit was in French (though I do now...) and the barman didn't know understand grapefruit. After much suggesting, I managed to narrow it down to pamplemousse and luckily I was right :rotfl2:

Another great day with fab pics:goodvibes

Oh dearie me!! :sad2: Don't worry about it!! I had a similar problem when I wrote our review on the Rainforest Cafe... It all just vanished- Three times...!!

I just have a hopeless addiction to food.... The Restaurant Reviews thread is like my home!!

Thanks for your fab report. Really interesting to read about how people 'do' it differently....as we go in Nov or other off season, the parks close really early so we just stay in them ALL DAY every day - it doesn't occur to us to do anything else!

One thing on my list for this trip is not to forget the swimming stuff; we always forget it and have never yet managed to go in the pool in DLH!

Our first few trips were like that even with late evenings. As we are tied to school hols it is usually very busy but the parks are usually open late. We had a shock when we were there in March and the parks closed at 8.00 but we were exhausted when we came out - more so than this trip as we were doing 12 hr stints in the park.
We have now learned to pace ourselves and chose the hotel deliberatly for one with a pool as we intended having some non park time to just enjoy the resort
