Summer Bay

I have a chance to get a three bedroom at Summer Bay resort. The reviews on Tripadvisor seem terrible with the occassional great posts. Most negative seem to do with timeshare hassels. Has anyone stayed there or should I pass and try to get somewhere else. It' seems hard to get 3 bedroom condos through Skyauction or Government travel.
I need a larger condo becuse two families will split the room

About 5 years ago we stayed in a one bedroom condo at Summer Bay. It was in the condo section which was brand new. We had a great time. We did have to go thru a timeshare presentation, but had no problems with it.

That being said, have you also considered renting a house? We did that two years ago, off season. We were able to get a 4 bedroom house with a swimming pool, pool table & foos ball table for $100 for one week. However, there were no tennis courts or tiki bar like at Summer Bay. It all depends upon what you're looking for.

I meant to say $100 per night for one week which totals $700. Sorry!

I stayed at Summer Bay in July for two weeks.

It is a lovely resort and although I don't know what section the 3 bedroom condos are in, the grounds and the common areas are great. The only down side I thought is it was kinda far down 192W.

As far as the timeshare sales are concerned unless you are going on a package that requires you to take the tour, just say NO!! I was called to take the tour and this is how I handled it and was not bothered again. People take the tour to get the freebies then are offended that they are subjected to pressure cooker sales tactics. If you are going on a package that requies you to take a tour practice saying NO over and over again because that's what you'll be doing.

BTW, it is not just Summer Bay, all resorts have the sharks!!!

We stayed at summer bay this past Easter,We found the place to be really nice and clean,with some good act. for us and the kids...Now the down side It will take you a while to go anywhere if you dont leave by 7.30 am...Bumper to bumper traffic They will not let you check in early no matter what you say or do The time share presentation was not all that bad if you can say NO.And seeing as i have 3 Girls it was not a real issue for me.There check in is a joke if you do the timeshare thing you check in at on place than check in at summer bay again..... I could say more about this but this is a family chat..Would i stay there again? Yes if the same deal came my way.....Not during spring break though...the traffic.......
