Looking for a nice cheap room for 1st night and found this for $50.
Who has experience with this place? Is it any good? Clean? Places to
eat near by? How's the pool? Anyone know the web site for this place?
Anything else you may add.

Thanks, YO

Actually it is $53 on Hotelkingdom.com
Do you know anything about this place?
Do you have a current reservation or looking like us?
Still looking for info on the place.

We stayed in a 3br pool house there in October which was just terrific. We also stayed a few years ago in a 2br condo. It's a bit farther out than some of the other resorts and we had a couple of maintenance issues, but the price you're getting is a STEAL!

My kids loved the little water play area. We never tried the public pool since we had our own in the house, but it seemed nice enough when we were walking by.

There are many restaurants on 192 between Disney and the resort. We've never eaten at any of them except Chick-fil-a, but you wouldn't go hungry.

Be sure to catch the balloon guy when he visits. He is a super entertainer. DS11 just showed me his deflated balloon a couple of days ago. He had a palm tree with a monkey climbing up it. SOOO cute!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort at twice the price.

No, we don't have a reservation but are very interested in this resort for a future holiday. If you a do a search for summer bay on DIS you will find a lot of info about it as well as pics.
Looking at the summer bay web site, the prices are MUCH higher then $53.

When we are interested in going to a condo in Orlando for a week, summer bay will be one of our top pics, especially at $53/night.

I just checked the some dates on that web site and I also saw some rooms come up for $50s, BUT they are for rooms over at the inn, not for their 1 and 2 brdm condos. I think if you were talking about just a room over at their in, then $50 would be a regular price but nothing spectacular. But if you are talking in the $50s for one fo their condos, then that is a very good price.

Riu, Thanks for the info. I'll keep looking into it. I haven't done the search
here yet but planning on it. I'll have to see what the different prices are
for the condo places. It's not that big a deal as we only need it for one night
and then on to POR then RPR Club level and then the Reniassance Club. At least those are the tenative plans.

Thanks, YO

Make sure you are getting a condo for $53.00 per night, not a room at the Inn or the Holiday Inn.
The condos are great.... and this is a very lovely place. If you do a search on this board for Summer Bay, you will find my link for pictures I took in August of the resort and our 1 bedroom condo.

I've stayed in a two bedroom condos a few times and it's wonderful! The pool area is great except the karaoke nights, but lying in the pool watching the sun set over the lake is just magical!

i used sky auction and stayed at summer bay for a week, it was nice.

We stayed for a week through Skyauction in the Villas at Summer Bay and it was very nice. There is a Holiday Inn Express and an Inn of Summer Bay (??) though on the same grounds or right nearby and they are basically just hotel rooms. Just make sure you know what you are getting for that price.

That is a great deal for the villas or condos there but for a basic room you could probably get something similar that is closer and easier for you since you will be heading to POR and other resorts.

If you're flexible on where you stay you could probably stay in DTD somewhere using Priceline.

It seems as though many of you don't think much of the basic rooms in the Inn. I am looking for a decent place that night as we land at 6 something and won't get to the hotel until 7:30 or so.

Any suggestions on a decent place in that price range? :confused3

crjack I have never done priceline any suggestions?

Thanks YO

I would also recommend using biddingfortravel if you are just looking for somewhere to lay your head for a night before the start of your vacation. I got a very nice hotel just outside the airport for $38 using Hotwire. They had a decent pool and nice breakfast buffet (sometimes one of the options includes breakfast). We just needed somewhere for the night before our cruise and it was cheap & clean....perfect.

spiceycat "while I would recommend the resort. the inn is across the street and not in a good selection." :earseek:

Thanks for that info, that is what I fear of not being in a good area and
not a nice place. After our last trip I don't want to repeat the Day Inn Suites or something like that near old town.
DW did not like the place or the area. :guilty:

I will checkout the thread you gave.

magiroux, thanks for the info, I will check that out also.

Thanks, YO

What are the dates of your trip??? Summer Bay is a little bit of a ride from POR or any parks so since you only need a room for one night and it's a late check-in it just seems like you should stay someplace closer like in DTD. The Inn is nothing different from dozens of other places so it really wouldn't be worth the long drive in my opinion.

Plus, you really need a car to get there so if you are adding in transportation fees to your room price you would definitely be paying too much.

Check out the sites that Spicey listed. With Priceline you can pick a vicinity that will get you close to WDW if POR is your first stop. I would guess you could get something decent for your price range....certainly something comparable to the SB Inn.

Also, try Expedia or Hotelkingdom for your date. You'll know exactly where you are staying and be able to consider a hotel with a shuttle if that's what you need.

Good luck!

I didn't realize it was so far away. I did find out about this place on hotelkingdom.com. I just didn't know anything about it. I'll try the other suggestions about DTD area and see if I can get something in our price range.
Thanks, YO
