I was checking on Expedia and found the Summer Bay Resort as a 3 1/2 star resort for only 64 dollars a night. That seems awfully cheap to me and I think there must be some type of catch.

Has anyone stayed there?

Summer Bay is awesome. Very nice, close to WDW and the majority of shopping needs, (Publix, Wal-Mart, restaurants, etc, all within a half mile).

They have a real nice resort. For those wondering it's www.summerbayresort.com

Very nice.

We're staying in a villa close by to Summer Bay right now,and my family from the UK and our family will be staying at Summer Bay this coming Oct so today we went for a drive through the resort just to get a look and we were really pleased with what we saw. There are sooooo many clusters of villas and rooms, also they have lovely detached homes for rent with some of the homes backing onto a lovely lake. My DH and I are really looking forward to staying there! :thumbsup2

Summer Bay has several accomodation options so just make sure you know specifically where you will stay for the $64 price. We stayed in the villas at Summer Bay and although they are considered a slight step down from the condos we enjoyed them. We were in a 2-bedroom/2 bath unit. The condos are equally nice and are slightly larger and have a balcony. There are also pool homes available.

In addition, however, there is a Summer Bay Inn(I think that's the name or Inn at Summer Bay??) plus a HI Express there as well and those are just basic motels. You could probably stay closer to the parks and main attractions for $64 if that is where they will put you.

We enjoyed Summer Bay and knew ahead of time it was a little ways down 192 but we had a car and knew we were in a 2 bedroom unit in the villas. The pools, landscaping, etc. were all nice and well maintained but for us it would be a little too far to go for just a hotel/motel room.

we too stayed at SB, we knew upfront it was a bit of a drive, but we really never noticed, it is vacation, you will enjoy it, be sure to check out skyauciton.com, they list summer bay villas we got ours for 7 nights total of 216.00 good luck

We stayed there a couple of years ago and really loved it. HOWEVER....they will NOT allow you to check in even one minute early so get there as close to check-in time as you can. We tried to check in early and no matter what we tried(napping on the couch etc) or said they would not budge on the check-in time.

saceo17....did Expedia specify villa or condo what size unit in Summer Bay? I think you would like the villas and condos and as I said the resort is very nice.

Skyauction was just mentioned and that is how we stayed there as well. They usually have the villas listed and you might want to check out the dates to see if that is an option for you too.

I haven't checked Skyauction in a while but they use to have Summer Bay villas on there pretty frequently and with a wide range of dates to choose from. We stayed there for a week for a great price and had a very good experience using Skyauction. Good luck.

i must disagree with that, we checked in 3 hours before check in time, our villa was ready and they had no problem with it.

Must have been nice to check in early. The day we went there was around 30 other families trying to check in and NO ONE was allowed to check in early. (Unless they were part owners)

it was nice because we could start our day and we do not own there, i won off skyauction

skyauction's inventory has not bee that good this year....

they seem to have put some of the summer bay inventory into the government and armed forces sites throught RCI but in the HIGH DEMAND section....

seems the days of great bargains on skyauction may be winding down...
