Summer Assignments??

I get to read one book of my choice from a pre-approved list. I'm reading "Lamb. The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal."

Then I have one mandatory read (every one going into 12th has to read it). Nickel and Dimed: On Getting By in America (or something like that).

Lamb is good so far, but I haven't even bought Nickel and Dimed yet.

I've gotta read The Old Man and the Sea and Bless Me, Ultima for english and read the first 3 chapters of my history book and do this huge packet on it

I LOVE THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA!!!

but then, I'm a Hemmingway fan in general. A lot of people in our generation don't like him much, I've found.

I have some French work I have to do. It's mostly busy work to make sure we don't lose all of our French.
And I have to read 2 books for honors english. I chose The Color Purple[/U by Alice Walker (I already read that one, I like it a lot) and The Old Man And The Sea by Hemingway. That one is kinda boring, but still good.

I have to read Nickel and Dimed too. I'm on page 5....its really boring to me. Plus I have to annotate it.
In Cold Blood is my other required book for AP Language and Composition. Also has to be annotated...

I have a feeling that Nickel and Dimed is going to bore me to tears, too. Two summers ago I had to read "Fast Food Nation" and while slightly intriguing, I will never eat fast food again thanks to that book.

I kinda wish I was taking AP US History again because Chambo picked the book for them this year and they get to read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" which is a completely awesome and different approach to history. It erases all the bias of textbooks and accounts what really happened. I read an older edition when I was like...9 or so. The incoming AP kids get to read the new one. Last summer I had to read "The Killer Angels" for that class. Talk about a boring book.

I had nothing assigned, but my parents made me read something, not aware of the fact I read every day obviously. They made me find a book that was meaningful and made me think, I chose a book called with their eyes which was lots of monologues written by people who went to stevecent (can't spell it sorry) high school about what happened from their point of view for 911, I read it and it was really sad.
But they were so strict about what book we had to read! They almost wouldn't let my sister get pay it forward cause it had been made into a movie

i have to read a book from a choice of 5. i actully finished the book and report before school started. i usually do it the DAY before school starts. but if i wanna go to privite high school after next year, i have to improve.

Introduction to Agriculture.
I had to read and annotate a 300 page book of quotes about college life. SO BORING.

And now I just have to type out the discussion questions.
I hope that's my only summer assignment. C:
