Posted this as a reply to another thread, but thought I'd put it as a separate thread to hopefully get seen more...

Are there any other on-site value resorts that offer 1 BR suites besides ASMU ? We are planning to go at the end of October for about 9 nights and really want a place where we can have a separate bedroom from our daughter.

DVC resorts have 1 BR rooms, but the current rack rates are 400+/night which is really high.

Our other thought is 2 separate rooms, but we would really like a queen or king bed, and most of the moderate resort rooms have doubles I believe.

We've stayed at POR in the past and really enjoyed the resort, so we're a bit concerned about staying at one of the "value" resorts...

Any suggestions ??

Some of the moderates and values have king bedded rooms. While its not guaranteed, you could book two connecting rooms and request that one of them be king bedded and then your daughter could have her own double bedded bedroom and you could have one with a king bed.

Keep in mind that while a king-bed room is guaranteed at a Moderate resort (because it’s a specific category, at a higher rate), connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed.
And, to answer your original question, while most resorts have suites, only the All Star Music has the reasonably-priced Family Suites.

:welcome: to the DIS! We are pleased you have joined us!

I'm not sure what your concerns may be about staying at a value resort, but my family has stayed at value, moderate and deluxe resorts at WDW and I have to tell you we have had a blast at all of them.

When we first started going to Disney we had no clue and had a TA book us - she recommended CBR so we went with it and loved it.

After that we stayed at Port Orleans (both Riverside and French Qtr) back when they were separate and Dixie Landings was called by it's proper name!

We then started staying at the Swan and Dolphin and loved both of those resorts, made a special trip for my animal loving daughter to AKL.

Decided that we do not spend much time in the room and Disney was offering some good discounts so we added a couple extra trips in the past couple years and stayed at POP with connecting rooms.

This next trip in Oct. we are going to try WL - again because Disney offered a great discount.

So as you can see we have been all over the World in different level resorts - and each and every one of them offered some great unique experiences. I do have to say that I think we just love being together as a family and enjoying Disney that we look for the good and tend to ignore if something does not go perfect - cause hey - nothing is perfect.

Go - have fun - and look for the good!

go rent from a DVC member - now even then most of the time 2 connecting rooms at a value will be cheaper than a 1-bedroom DVC resort (not as much fun but cheaper)

the values (some of them) have a king bed that connects with a regular double bed - now sometimes these are handicapped rooms.

We just came back last week from a week at All-Star Music where we had a Family Suite. We LOVED it! One room was the bedroom which had a Queen size bed. The other room was the Living Room which had a sofa sleeper, a chair sleeper and ottoman sleeper (which both ended up as a standard twin). We were concerned that the kids would have to sleep on pullouts all week (perhaps not so comfortable?). But they were very comfortable! They are some kind of German-made pullouts where there is no center bar that makes it uncomfortable.

We paid about $265 per night. :)

I think the odds of them finding a DVC rental for the end of October is pretty slim.

I'm having the same issue... but still find the ASmu to be most affordable, and the suites at CSR to be next on the list, with the 1-bedroom villas being an added bonus due to the kitchen, balcony, and tub.

If your looking for "affordable" space... you won't find it on Disney property.

2007 rates value rates:
ASmu family suite: $179
CSR Jr. King suite: $330
SSR 1 bedroom suite: $370
WL Junior Suite: $485
YC Jr. Suite: $575
CR Garden 1-bedroom: $845

2 Rooms at POR (one being king):
160 + 145 = $305
Keep in mind that the connecting rooms are not promised though :guilty:

From my choices and if I was looking for more of a "resort" experiece, I would choose CSR or opt for a 1-bedroom at either SSR or OKW... have you seen how spacious those 1-bedroom villas are at OKW?! Incredible! I just wish the rooms didn't appear to be so outdated and worn.

It's a tough choice, and I always wonder: Should I spend the money on some extra room, or for a view where my little one can watch the fireworks from her balcony before bed?

Yeah, they are sooooo worn out looking. Please stay away. These are horrible resorts. :rolleyes1

LOL Deb & Bill!

You are just trying to keep more rooms available - aren't you! :lmao:

Just an FYI

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

Also a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no meatle bar to hurt the sleepers back.

I don't know... I think I could sacrafice that aspect for 1016 square feet... yes you heard me... 1016 square feet of that villa. Heck, my two bedroom (very spacious feel) apt is only 1041 square feet
