So next April's vacation plan is slowly evolving into trip decisions..next up on the docket is accommodations!!!

We're skipping the house rental - too much driving.
We're skipping the DVC/Timeshare points rentals - again, driving, shuttles.
We're skipping the DLH stay - too much money for the family overall budget.

Which leaves us with hotel suites!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
And brings me to all you DLR experts:goodvibes:goodvibes

Group of 10...2 grandparents, a brother, a sister, his wife, her husband, and all the kiddoes...14, 14, 12, 7.

We need:

1) Walking distance to DL.
Mom has to use her motorized scooter, so unless the ART/hotel shuttle has a lift, we're definitely on foot power, the rest of us are hot to trot:teeth:

2) Ground floor suites or elevators available.

3) Suite/bunk beds/kitchenette/kitchen space, living room area

4) Parking
We will have 2 vehicles, but no one wants to drive anywhere really.
A little shopping perhaps, maybe one day, but that's it.

5) Hot breakfast.
Continental is fine, but prefer an option with eggs or waffles.
Sausages and bacon on the buffet, and my dad would stay forever:)

6) Heated pool and hot tub/spa

7) Clean. Please, let it be clean.

Oh, and DH would like all this for $50/night.
Is there such a grand and wonderful place????
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, though, the budget can go a little more than that...we're staying 6 nights next April 16-22...so would $175/night be crazy to hope for?

We're planning on 4 day hoppers, and just enjoying our time together.

No rushing, afternoon swims and naps, late evenings with fireworks and mickey bars:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

TIA!!!

:)

I'm guessing that you will be paying at least $100 per night per room - unless you are staying somewhere far away. If you are looking at closer, it will be more expensive - especially with the suites. Maybe use priceline.

Check out Park Vue Inn. You may need two rooms, but they do have some suites with kitchenettes! Hot breakfast, pool & hot tub, walking distance (right across the street), free parking, clean.

We stayed there in March and loved it!

$50 isn't going to happen, Priceline maybe, but trying hotwire might help get close to that, so you can for sure get breakfast.

But honestly you wants aren't going to happen that easily.

If your last line matters, stay at the DEsert Inn and Suites or Park Vue Inn inn multiple rooms, and you will get more relaxing, short distance to the park, and easier availability of naps and pool time.

2 rooms at Desert Inn and Suites might be a good bet. They do have rooms that sleep 10, but you're only allowed 1 vehicle per room. Continental breakfast only. May or may not be able to get it for your price - book early for best chance.
Park Vue rooms sleep at most 7. They have hot breakfast and evening reception. You'd need 2 rooms and can't get that for $175/night.
Those may be the only two possible suites in easy walking distance. I've been told that ART can accommodate ECVs, but we haven't attempted it. Homewood Suites looked pretty nice and may meet you requirements w/ the exception of walking distance.

Oh no, we realize $50/night isn't going to happen at all.
That's why all the :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Orlando house rental market has spoiled us completely for rates/night...3 families in a 4/5 bedroom home isn't too difficult to find for $200/night off season - and that's our point of reference. Realizing that the SoCal housing market is tremendously different for rental homes has been a tough sell to the family...they want the 5 bedroom, 3 masters, 2 twins, pool hot tub, wifi and few minute drive to the parks.
So do I :) LOL!!

The grandparents need a ground floor suite.
They would like to have the living room space, and DB, wife and children would stay there as well.

Does the Park Vue Inn or Desert Inn have ground floor 2 bedroom suites?

DH, myself and our 2 kids would like a 2 bedroom suite as well, but doesn't matter if it's ground or second floor.

Park Vue isn't a Good Neighbour Hotel...any ideas why?

Anyone have any pictures of Park Vue?

It's not on the list in the FAQ sticky.

Thanks all!!:goodvibes

:)

I'm just re-reading my first post....

$175 is our budget per family, not total per night:teeth:

So, a 2 bedroom at Park Vue or Desert Inn for the grandparents and DBs family...

Then another $175/night for DH, me and our kids.

That makes more sense, doesn't it!! LOL!!

:)

It means little it's just a marketing partnership to sell more. Probably because PVI is highly rate it can stand on its own.

I'm not sure but I don't know think PVI has an elevator and not sure if it has any suites down stairs.

PVI may just be it...
The floorplans look like they would definitely work for us...:goodvibes

I'll send them an email regarding ground floor accessibile suites, and report back.

The price fits right inline with what works for us, and the location is well, terrific.:thumbsup2

Must go look at DI&S too...

Thanks again, folks - you guys make this so much easier:goodvibes

:)

We are staying at the PVI in Jan and we are really looking forward to it. I remember reading that there are 2 ground floor suites, but I don't remember which style. They also have a FB page.

Park Vue pics:
There are 2 ground floor suites and 2 upstairs suites of each suite type. No elevator.

I'm confused... how is DVC too much driving or shuttles? There is only one at DL and it has its own gate.

DVC Rental at GCH Villas will be the absolute shortest walk to any of the theme parks. There are no shuttles involved in that, so I would not rule that out as a possibility.

That's half true. The villas are closer to the special DCA entrance. But all of PVI and DIS is closer than the GCV.

We have had good luck at the residence inn maingate. They have a senior rate too for your whole party! Free hot large buffet breakfast, evening snacks, great pool, full kitchens, two bathrooms, basketball court and really like an townhouse atmosphere! Could be walking distance for older kids and parents, not sure about Grands but there is the ART (about 6blocks). It is also located across from the Gardenwalk mall which has Cheesecake Factory, Bubba Gumps Shrimp and more restaurants and shops.

That's what I was going to say..DVC would involve no shuttles at all. Group of 10..I don't remember the make up, but you could squeeze into 2 1-BR or get a Grand Villa. How many nights? In April there is Magic Season and Premier season. Weeknights for 1 BR in Magic is 52 per night, weekend 64, in Premiere 62 and 76. Grand Villa is 152/188 or 182/224. I think that would end up being pretty expensive even renting points at a low price of 10PP.

DVC point rentals = too expensive for individual families, and we would like to stay together....although 3 studios would be ok, we're missing the square footage without renting a 1 or 2 bedroom....and that bumps costs up too high.
A studio at GCV would range from $1280 ($10pp to $1664 on David's site, and I would happily pay the extra for the peace of mind)
PVI for the most expensive suite is $1026 for the 6 nights, including our breakfast, and actual beds for the kids, not a pullout.

Same with staying at DLH or PPH...just too much cashola, and momma's going on DCL the next week.:teeth:

Timeshare rentals = this is where the more driving or shuttles comes in.

This is the hard part when families travel together...for some parts of the group, budget is priority:thumbsup2, for others, location is priority. :thumbsup2

For me, aka The Planner, trying to find a workable solution for everyone is the priority....how do I find everything we need, stay together, within everyone's budget. :surfweb::surfweb:

PVI is ticking all our boxes, happily!!
Thank you soooooo much, BayAreaMom, for the information and the pictures:)

ORDisneyFans, thank you for your recommendation of RIMaingate - I'll go do some more reading:thumbsup2

Thanks again all!

:)
